Probably means the MSRP in the USA will be somewhere in the range of $5.5K to $6K. For me the big question still to be answered is if the 3D crosstalk/ghosting has been significantly reduced or not on the new generation of JVC projectors? We might get an answer at CEDIA, but perhaps not until production projectors actually get into the hands of AVS members.

Basedon subtrating 15% Vat and conversion at 1.24 dollars to the Euro, I would predict an ag.gresive $4999 MSRP

$4999 MSRP would make this translate to a very attractive street price. I wish the contrast specs were the same as the RS55 instead of it just being 60,000:1 vs the RS55 at 80,000:1. I know these are just marketing numbers but I would hope the contrast would match the RS55 instead of barely being better than either the RS40 or RS45. I guess for better contrast performance you would have to go up to the next model and this model might just duplicate the RS40/45 but with eshift and a few minor tweaks. Since I can't see 3D, all I care about is 2D performance so I will wait to hear more about this model to determine if I want to get it or just hold off and maybe wait to get a "B" stock RS55 when the price drops to what the "B" stock RS50's are currently going for. I currently have a RS40 and if I upgrade I want it to be a noticeable improvement.

The B-Stock RS50 that I saw was really low, a little more than an RS45. If I saw a B-Stock RS55 that low, I wouldn't hesitate to jump on that deal.

Yeah, I think we saw the same "B" stock RS50 but it may be a while before "B" stock RS55's show up around that price and if so then it might be time for the following year model JVC's that show up so I will be waiting to hear how the new X55's with eshift are in comparison to the RS55's are in 2D pq.

Also, these model #'s are almost mind blowing to keep straight since there is the consumer division and pro division. wink.gif

I know, these model numbers are crazy. But I had the RS55 and regret selling it to upgrade. If the X55 performs the same with a cheaper price tag, I will jump on it. We are days away from hearing about these models, CEDIA always seems like what JVC has up their sleeves more than anything to me. The year before with 3D, last year with the eshift, I thought this year was going to be 4K. If they improve the eshift, that would be good enough for me. Maybe next year it will be 4k with 8k eshift biggrin.gif

Since you had the RS55, what could they improve with the eshift? I heard good things about it but didn't hear any negatives. I really like my RS40 and my recent additions of the Darblet and Panamorph UH480 have improved it but I have wanted to see what the eshift does since reading about it.

The E-shift works flawlessly as far as I am concerned.

I don't really know. I have a 100in fixed frame screen and a 120in electric screen. I don't see much of a benefit on the 100in screen but can see it on the 120in. Maybe have more of an effect when the eshift is increased. I know the bigger the screen, the bigger the effect. Eshift works great to me, I don't understand the big complaint about it other than it being called a 4K projector when it only upscales to 4K. Reviewers and others don't care too much for it and call it fake, since it doesn't have actually 4K inputs.

Ok, gotcha. Maybe they have tweaked it a bit in the newer models to work even better though. I will be anxious to hear about the new models this week.

Thanks,

What is the difference, in terms of PQ, between the 48 and the 4810?

No difference in PQ. However, the 4810 may be more likely to have good convergence, sharpness, and no anomalies because of the extra quality control. They basically take out the projector and check if everything is working perfectly. So I guess you will be getting more peace of mind with the 4810. It also has an extra year of warranty. One thing though is the 4810 will be sold by dealers only and not through the internet with discounted prices. The 48 will though.

Yes it does. But, it is not ISF certified. But again, the most important thing is to have a CMS, which the RS48 does have. The RS48 is quite a nice deal and hits the sweet spot IMO. smile.gif

Isn't being ISF certified just a badge though? If it has the same 7 axis CMS it will be just as good (or indifferent) as the one in last year's models ISF labelled or not. I agree on the X55 being the sweet spot with the CMS and Eshift for less than last year's X70/RS55

reading all these reviews really annoys me. Should I replace my X70 (RS55) to X55?
For 3D really doesn't matter to me, I don't have much 3D content, only those must see like Avatar, Transformer3. The rest, no for me. No matter what, JVC is difficult to beat DLP in 3D, even in the latest generation of their pj. 1000 msrp DLP could do excellent job in 3D.
New lamp but the same lumens. I just spend 200hours on projectors a year, how long does the old lamp last, really not a issue to me.
Contrast raito 80k v. 90k. ur.....who can tell?
So, for the e shift2! Thats the part really annoys me. How much eshift2 better than eshift1? I really want to see some compare between these 2 generation. Could I get a Darbee to make my eshift looks like eshift2? I am wondering.

That's a tough decision. If I were you I would add a Darbee Darblet regardless, it made a noticeable difference on my RS40. I wanted eshift last year but didn't want to spend the money for the RS55 especially since it was using same lamp and i was happy with my RS40 pq. This year I am upgrading my RS40(still love the pq) to a RS4810 for the eshift2 and improved lamp and extra warranty. In your case you might want to wait and see what all the reviewers/users say or if you are happy with pq just wait till next year when it will be the new and improved eshift3. wink.gif
