Have been considering yet setting on the fence about buying one of the RS 45's in B stock. But have a couple of concerns and questions.

1. In the reviews on this projector the claim was for world class black levels, but they weren't actually black rather a blue black and seemingly throwing dark values quite a bit off balance. Has this issue been rectified with either firmware updates, or the new 03 version bulbs?

2. Same reviews also indicated some clipped shadow detail vs other projectors. Likewise is there a way around this in calibration or even perhaps in FW updates?

3. With the new 03 version lamp, are users getting longer bulb life? Not sure one should expect the equivalent of the latest technology that renders 4000 hours ± but it would be encouraging to think lamp life has been extended to a great degree.

Thanks in advance

1) There is no blue-black issue, it was his calibration or he had a bad sample. Many of us have owned the RS-45 and many other projectors.
2) You have to adjust the gamma, by default the gamma curve is backwards, this is a fairly simple fix.
3) We don't know for sure, it hasn't been long enough to say. However, the newer JVC projectors may have longer lasting lamps.

Thanks coderguy. Given your first comment, makes one wonder how much validity to put into any of these "professional" reviews/reviewers.

Just curious, how well would the RS50 (also available as b stock) hold up against the RS 45?

Thanks

The RS50 does not have the light output of the RS45. If you have a smaller screen, the RS50 would be a good projector to use. I seem to recall with your screen size the RS50 had plenty of brightness, but post the size for us.
