I just ordered my x35 today.
it'll arrive in a few days.
I'll have epson 5020 as well and comapre them together.
If x35 isn't any better than epson 5020, i'll probably keep epson and sell x35 or something.
we'll see...

I have the RS46 on Pre-Order (Thanks Mike for all the help over the last 2 months). Almost done with my theater room (14.6' L x 12.2' W). I ordered my Monoprice 120" Multi-Format Screen last week.

I'm excited as this will be my first HT. Im guessing at 13 feet, 120 screen is going to look like IMAX.. lol.

Kraine.
Let us know how different this model is compared to the preproduction model you had. Especially the lumens.

Thanks for the photos! I am worried now about using a DVI-to-HDMI adapter for the second input for my PC now (already have DVI run) since they're side-by-side, but if I need a 1ft cable I can do that.

Should I plan on running a Cat5e/Cat6 cable alongside my HDMI? I see there's a plug for it but no word on what it does?

I'm also curious about the functionality of the rj-45 port. Can it be used for firmware updates? I remember reading early on that this year's JVCs would be controllable via an iOS / Andriod app so that could be it's main function for end users. I never saw anything else about the app though, so I don't know if it will be a feature across the range, or limited to the higher end models.

From page 24 of the manual:
"The network is used to control this unit. It is not used for sending or receiving video signals."

From page 72 of the manual:
"The projector can be controlled by connecting it to a PC through the computer network with a LAN cable for control commands to be sent to the projector."

Are these calibrated lumens? If not, what mode were these measured in?

D65 means that they are calibrated. Actually the factory presets on my X35 are so good that I don't need to correct it :

Take a look here ;

What is the differences between DLA-RS46 vs DLA-X35? I have an old epson 6500UB that is going to be 4 years old. It flickers like a mofo with a pinkish bottom screen. Time for a new toy?

Can you guys pm what the price I should be paying for this unit. TIA.

Which mode did you find more accurate, Cinema or Natural?

Both are accurate, but you have to choose the standard color space wich is close to the REC.709 reference.

The Sony HW50 and Epson 5020 looks the same on the L/R patterns, the only projectors that can nail this test to perfection are the 3D DLP's.

The L/R patterns should not be used a sole indicator of ghosting performance. With real content, the HW50 and 5020 perform much better than the L/R artifacts would indicate.

Scenes from Sammy's Adventure, Despicable Me, Happy Feet 2, etc should be used for reference in comparing the ghosting artifacts. We'll have those screen comparisons between the JVC, Epson and Sony as soon as the US JVC's arrive which should be shortly.

Thanks Kraine.

Nice and bright;)
My Benq 7000 is a tad over 1000 lumens normal lamp. Not much difference.
Now the supposedly lamp fix has been done, no doubt a winner here!

The JVC projectors are already controllable over IP via an application. I am presently controlling my JVC-RS45 using an app called iRule on my iPad. Works great! JVC will just have their own app that does this.

Good to know, I've searched the App Store for an official JVC app, but it hasn't popped up yet.

Hi Kraine,

How does this compare to any measurements you performed on the X30 previously?

I'm new to JVC PJ's and considering buying the X35, are you saying you select Standard colour space in the menu whilst in either picture mode setting?

Thanks

46 will have a slightly higher lumen output than the 40 and 45. So slight that the human eye will not be able to tell much of a difference.
The BIG difference hopefully will be when the number of hours start clocking on the 46 it will be nice and bright compared to the same hours on the 40 and 45.

I finally got my JVC mounted. For aesthetics, I wanted this as close to the ceiling as possible, so that's why there's no extension pole. The lens centre ends up being 7.5" from the ceiling drywall, and will be 11.5" above the screen top. For those with an older Chief RPA mount, this works without having to buy the SLB281 plate.

Spider legs with extensions:

Mount base attached to the plywood with 1.5" lag bolts:

Backside outlet:

After a perfect 10 clean-and-jerk, here's the mounted beast:
