My Mitsubishi HC6500 went bad a few weeks ago...

I searched Best Buy but couldn't find the 5030.  How did you order it?

Any delivery date though?  I have ordered mine, but I won't see it until late October I am told by my dealer.

I've ordered one from PP who told me that Epson CA are already holding stock and that my 5030 should be dispatched by Monday to arrive with me before next weekend, here's hoping lol... It's a shame BestBuy aren't listing a price as I'm sure PP would match it...

Why would anyone order a 5020 over a 5030 given that they're the same price?  What am I missing? Have I overlooked something in the specs?  Or is it just a matter of time once the 5030's start rolling out the door and then there will be a 5020 price drop?

I expect so. I did toy with the idea of getting a discounted 5020 but then decided that the advertised improvements would be worthwhile. I also figured I would probably be unhappy having the older model if I then started reading how much better the newer model was and it would give me massive buyer's remorse. So in the end I decided a few more dollars for the 5030 would be money well spent.

Thanks.

Just bought one for my uncle.

Question for those that might have the 5020, I'm trying to order the parts I need to make the 12V trigger work on this projector. Is this the plug I need to buy?

http://www.monoprice.com/Product/?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021808&p_id=667&seq=1&format=4#feedback

I basically plan to strip the two ends of the wires, attach it to some stereo cables (have a long segment of wire that's not being used) and attach it to an ethernet cable that my elite screen uses. I plan to just join everything with wire nuts or electrical tape. Any thoughts?

No discount.  The saleswoman looked it up and said "$2499, $100 less than the 5020."

Since I posted this a couple of others have tried to get this price from other Best Buys and they told them the price was $2599.  So not sure if I caught some kind of sale ??

Nope, unfortunately what the best buy you ordered from was only the plastic demo piece. I went in this morning and was told it was $2499 as well and got excited as well. However when they try to ring it out, it kept coming up as a penny. Upon further research by the GM and the sales rep, the $2499 is incorrect and is only for the mock piece. It's a place holder. The sku for the $2499 is not a sellable sku, only a mock sku. The correct price is $2599.98 (MAP) and under a different sku and just went live today after 12pm . Sorry to burst your bubble. Maybe you can wait it out and see what you get since you've already paid for it but i think they will chalk it up as an error and won't be able to sell it to you.

Do you know the new/correct SKU?

Yeah sorry buddy!

Here's the correct sku, 9955532, that came up as $2599.98 on my emailed receipt. You will have to ask the guys in the store to look it up.

I was told 2499 as well on Saturday then the salesperson told me the price had gone to 2599 but the store was going to honor the original quote. So I'm ordering mine this coming Saturday at the 2499 price.

Here's what PC (Evan Powell) had to say about the new Epson:

"The other over-the-top buzzworthy new product on the CEDIA floor was the Epson Pro Cinema 6030, priced at a comparatively paltry $3500. On Saturday afternoon, the third day of the show when most attendees had gone home and the vast majority of idle booth workers were twiddling their thumbs and praying for the closing bell, there was still a long line of dealers waiting in line to see the 6030. This projector wins the award for the Best Picture for the Money at this show, hands down. It is not 4K, and it is not in the same league as the super-premium 1080p 3-chip DLPs, but the Epson 6030 produces a gorgeous picture for $3500. Black levels are extremely deep, and detail definition in dark shadows is impressive. Color appears refined, accurate and natural. And for classic film fans, the 6030 has a BW Cinema mode that auto sets the color temp to 5400 Kelvin for the authentic display of BW films as they were seen in the theaters back in the day. Very cool. The Epson 6030 at the show was displayed on a 1.3 gain Stewart Studiotek 130, 11-foot wide, 2.4 Cinemascope format. It was also being demo'd with a Panamorph CineVista anamorphic lens.

Epson's release of the Pro Cinema 6030, and its sister version the Home Cinema 5030 at $2500, will be of keen interest to the much larger population of home theater fans who don't want to spend the big bucks on 4K. It used to be that in this modest price range you gave up quite a bit of black level, shadow definition, and dynamic range in exchange for the lower investment. And there is still a difference between these units and the premium priced models, but video technology has advanced to the point where the differences are not nearly as dramatic as they used to be. In many cases you need to see them side by side to tell the difference. On their own the Epson 6030 and 5030 will produce large screen images that will fully satisfy the demands of the videophile who wants the complete dark room cinematic experience in the home."
