The gentleman there advised me that they had a refurbished Epson 6030 with brand new bulb and all factory warranty plus parts for $2400. Should there be any hesitation on pulling the trigger for a 6030 that has been refurbished? Thank you for any and all replys.

I personally would stick with a new 5030ub. The new 5030 will have 2 years warranty. Pretty sure the 6030 refurb will only have one. Right now you can get a new 5030 from Visualapex for $2300 then get a Visa card worth $125 from them and a free extra lamp from Epson. So $2175 net with twice the warranty length and the free extra lamp (that's $259 from VA). Oh yeah, the 5030 will be white as opposed to the 6030's black if that's a big deal to you. I got my 5030 from VA and they were great. JMHO. Good luck with your decision.

I checked out VA and they offer refurbished 5030s with full warranty but no extra lamp. If the refurbished 6030 does in fact come with the 3 yr factory warranty spare lamp and stock goddies, would it be something I should not pass up at $2400?

That's a good deal especially if you are going to ceiling mount the projector. It comes with a nice mount.

I got the new 6030 installed today. The guy did the firmware update for me too.
Question...... When I first turn it on everything is green. I can see the image but all the color is green. It takes about 1 minute to warm up an have color. My old projector did not do this. Is this normal?

Yes. Mine too. But then the picture comes on. All the people, buildings, etc, are green. It takes one minute for the color to kick in. Then it slowly comes in and the color gets better and better.

I don't think it did that until after the firmware update.

Any ideas as to what could be wrong or how to fix it? Maybe redo the firmware update?

It would not hurt to try that first. If you power cycle the unit does it fix the problem?

Sorry to sound dumb.... But what exactly do you mean by power cycle?

I called Epson. They said once the firmware is done I can not do it again. They had never heard of this issue. They said Monday they will send it to their advanced technics, support. They are not in in weekends.

Power it on and off. I had it happen to me several times when I had that model and it would operate fine after power cycling the unit.

It powers on and off every time I use it. I's that what you mean? Or do you mean to actually unplug it?

Just turn it off & on. Every time the green screen attack got me I turned the unit off and back on and it was fine.

I have the 6030 and it does not have the super resolution firmware update. It has always been black at start up, then a green hue during warm up, then a perfect picture thereafter. All projectors need a minute or so to warm up. What difference does it make if the screen is blue, black, green, purple or whatever until that minute is up?

Yes. I agree. But I am worried it could get worse or go out completely.

Plus it really shouldn't be green for a minute to a minute and a half to warm up. It is a total of 2 minutes until the color is normal. That is a long time to wait when you're sitting there. It's brand new and expensive. It shouldn't do this. If all machines do this then that's fine. It is what it is. But if its just mine I want it replaced.

I would call them as you indicated and get ready to potentially send her in for repair. I will say this tho, they have a fast turnaround on making repairs.

So everything is green... The people, buildings, etc.... For about 2 minutes when powering up? Even Epson said that it is not normal. But if everyone else's machine does it then maybe it is normal.

Yes, mine behaves like this. It comes on black with the EPSON logo, then the colors slowly brighten up over the course of a minute or so. I don't have the firmware upgrade.
I always turn my projector on then go and do something for a few minutes while it warms up. The picture, once projector warms up, is stunning!

I spoke to Epson technical support. They had never heard of my issue. They are escalating it to upper tech support. But a few others above are now saying their screen is green toi. Anyone else?

I thought the green tint on start up was normal. Mine does that. Once it starts to warm up the picture is awesome, so a minute or so of green tint has never bothered me. I don't have the firmware upgrade, although I doubt that would make a difference...?

Update. Advanced technical support called me yesterday. They said the green color for 2 minutes is normal. They said some of their machines do it and some don't. They explained to me why but it went over my head. It sounded weird to me that some do it and some don't but it was normal. Hmmmm. But they offered to replace my machine but offered no promise that the new machine wouldn't do the same thing.

Since there are others here with the same issue I think I will just keep the current machine that I have. I was just worried that it would lead to other problems down the road. But if others here say it won't then I am good with that.
