I will be shocked if laser replacement is $500 or less. It is not going to be like a lamp. Where you pull out a module and slide in a new one. You will have to send the projector in and they will have to take it apart to replace the lasers in it. Just the labor to accept, unpack, take apart, put back together, package up and ship will run you more than two or three hundred. Remember return shipping alone will be $60 to $100. These projectors are big and heavy. Much larger and heavier than a JVC.
Yeah, I forgot about the size of these, they are fairly large compared to what I am used to. I have had great customer service from Epson with my second projector. They even sent me out a free bulb once when the warranty on the bulb was over. Hopefully they won't hit customers too hard for replacement costs.
I'm also wondering if by the time the lasers need to be replaced if they will have Laser driven 4K projectors for half the price of todays offerings.
