I was wonderin' when this thread would be made. Thanks.

When should we expect reports to start rolling in? Are the projector manufacturers showing starting today?

Obviously not brightness matched or calibrated to the same standard. The color saturation is totally different between the two.

At least that ends the mystery of what the model # is for the successor to the 600es is going to be........unless it's a typo.

Rich. The Expo runs Thursday through Saturday. Weds is a training/course and press conference day. Reports on projectors, screens, and strip clubs should start trickling in on Thursday. Remember there is a time difference between the show site and the east coast. Start looking for critical observation posts Thursday night with press release type reports during the day on Thursday.

Blacks are relative to the exposure of the camera. Wouldn't say blacks are bad on the Epson.

@ccool96 I saw you've listed your Barco unit for sale. I'm just curious what you're considering replacing it with? Is the VPL-VW5000ES a contender? I know you've also had an 1100ES at your place. I realize the 5000ES is going to be quite a bit brighter, but I wonder if the PQ difference between these two units will be much different if they could somehow be brightness matched?

I have had a DPI Insight 4K Laser pre-ordered for over a year now. But the VPL-VW5000ES very well may change that.

Being that the 5000ES is laser based, Im sure it will be able to have its light output significantly reduced, if one needed too. Yes i think the Sony 5000ES is very likely to match or exceed the performance of the 1100ES.

Judging by the throw ratio of the GTZ-270 (which Sony is porting over as the 5000ES) it looks to be using the same lens as the 1100ES (1.27 - 2.73):
