Your problem is likely your cable. A lot of cables can pass 4K/24 but can’t pass 4K/60 that you need for gaming. Make sure you are using a certified cable at less than 30 feet or you may need to upgrade it to a fiber optic hybrid type cable like this one https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=21568

Thanks! Looks like that cable the issue. I tried connecting xbox directly to projector and i got all green check marks. Now the issue is putting in a new fiber hdmi cable from projector to receiver haha. I don't see any conduit too. Looks like the best way is to tap the ends with old hdmi cable and hope for it to fish through? The distance is about 25 ft.

Does anyone know how many watts the RS400 pulls? I want to look into a UPS. Is it true that it's better to have one or your bulb might break in a power outage because it's not cooling down normally?

I made a JVC 4K QuickStart Guide for newcomers and I strongly suggest you take a look as it will really help you get the most out of your projector. Step one will link you to this cable and I suggest you replace all of your cables with them right away, it will save you future headache. They do make exterior wall conduit that you can paint if you can't get it through the wall.

I'm not sure but I have an APC 1500VA UPS on my entire system including my RS400 projector, Denon x6300 receiver running 11 speakers and iNuke amplifier running two dual-15" subwoofers and it's fine. In fact, I watched the (massively disappointing) series finale of Dexter during a storm and my entire neighborhood lost power. I was able to finish the finale on battery power and shut down the projector and system I had safely.

Just bought that UPS after reading this. Thx guys. All but my amps will be on it. Amps are on high current seperate feeds.

Ok, I have a question to stir the pot a bit..

Now that I’m beginning to nail all this down (kind of),

If I had an RS-X20 or RS-X40 (Gen 2/3), what would it do that our Gen1 units don’t do (that we do manually) in terms of modes, WCG profile, and gamma curves?

Also in the Gen 2 and 3 units (I made that up for simplicity, see models above) what improvements to the % of full textbook WCG do they have over ours? I know they are brighter, and they allow the Auto Iris to work better with HDR (better contrast).

Thx!

The biggest difference is that the newer models have built-in HDR gamma (ST.2084), and will automatically switch the Picture Mode, not just the gamma. There’s also the Low Latency mode for gamers.

The difference in luminance is not noticeable. The difference in gamut is betweeen the RS4xx and RS5/6xx, not between 1st gen and 2nd/3rd gen.

I am in Australia 230v, I have my x5000 connected to a cyber power 720w sine wave ups. It displays current wattage usage. I have mine set to low lamp and it displays 248w usage so for me only pulling just a little over 1 amp

366 watts in high lamp, 286 watts in low lamp.

As I said before, I have my entire system on a APC 1500VA UPS which includes my RS400 projector, Denon x6300 receiver running 11 speakers and iNuke amplifier running two dual-15" subwoofers and it's fine.

Under my 4K TV Details on XBOX, it says "your tv supports HDR10 video" which is good and then lower down the page it also says "your tv setups doesn't support HDR10 for gaming. Games won't be shown in HDR"

Can anyone please let me know how to fix this so I can play my games in HDR?

Many thanks in advance!
Have you tried taking the Marantz out of the equation and running direct to the Projector. If it runs fine direct, it is the Marantz. Call Maratz about the issue at hand. Also if you do not have HDMI cables with this badge you may want to update.

There was some info floating around on this awhile back. I ended up getting a genuine replacement for $250 on eBay. I wish I could get a lead on genuine bulbs only, too. Really hard to filter out the China garbage.

Holy smokes, it's practically new. I'm at around 3100 hours on mine. You're cheating though, I saw that 65" OLED in your sig...I don't think I could ever go back to a display that small, even for just regular TV...maybe in the garage.

For those using a Roku, what display output resolution are you selecting within the Roku menu? The four options are 4K 30Hz, 4K 60Hz, 4K (10-bit) 30Hz, 4K (10-bit) 60Hz.

I got my RS400 in Feb 2016 and only 350 hours on it myself. I only use 4K Blu Rays on it. At this rate I probably won't purchase another projector until HDMI 2.1 with a 4K native for $5000 is possible.

Anyhow my post is that I have the Panasonic Ub820 and it looks great. Currently I have uploaded the SDR BT.2020 color profile. In just looking around I've seen that there's another profile called SDR BT.2020NF. Can anyone explain what that's for? would it add anything to our RS400s?

The profiles are just BT.2020 and BT.2020NF (not SDR...), the difference is that the NF version does not use the P3 filter, so is brighter but slightly limited in gamut. However, the difference is only relevant for the RS5x0/6x0; the RS4x0 does not have the P3 filter so the built-in BT.2020 is actually BT.2020NF.

Hi guys me again.

Things going well with the new curves and 820. Finally gave up and stream on my Apple 4K now using the Javs 85nit curve. Works good lasts a long time..

Anyway, forgot to ask this, what is recommended best settings for your typical 1080/60 HD Rec709 signal?

I think I’m just running Natural I think and Normal Gamma curve (played with ABC and differences were small). Auto 1 Iris. Don’t recall what my CMD is set to. I watched Super Bowl and Grammys and both times reminded myself to ask this question.

Just had my RS 400 calibrated by Jeff Meier what a difference. I can finally watch movies in HDR now. he was very professional on time and explained a lot of things to me about what he was doing and how it would benefit the projector. Very happy with his work

Since there is no tuner or method of generating content in the projector, ARC would not make any sense. ARC is for a TV with an internal tuner or smart system that sends audio content back to the AVR.

The HD Fury Vertex basically injects alternate EDID information into a signal, allowing you to change how components work. Some streamers use the HD Fury Vertex to peel off a 1080 signal to stream while looking at a 4K signal on their display. Most on here will use it for Dynamic Iris with HDR and to avoid the Gamma D switch for HDR. I used the HD Fury Vertex to trick my UB900 into SDR Conversion by thinking my projector could not handle an HDR signal. I sold the UB900 & HD Fury and picked up a UB820 which will do that all on its own.

On my RS 400 is there a difference between 4.2.0 and 4.2.2 I know it also has 4.4.4. So when watching an HDR movie What should it be set in? When I hold down the information button on my OPPO Remote it’s telling me the movie is in 4K HDR BT2020 10 bit but only and 4.2.0 and I can’t change it on the projector or the Blu-ray player is that normal?

not sure if I can ask this here but let me know and I will pull it. Would like to purchase a spare lamp for my DLA-550rb, google searched and not sure who is reputable and what I should be looking for as the prices vary from 350 to 700 +/-.

Thanks

UHD is 4.2.0. The only thing that would use 4.4.4 is a PC. I didn't notice a difference when switching between modes, I don't remember where mine is set at now, but if there is an auto, it's probably on that.

not sure if I can ask this here but let me know and I will pull it. Would like to purchase a spare lamp for my DLA-550rb, google searched and not sure who is reputable and what I should be looking for as the prices vary from 350 to 700 +/-.
Best thing to do is watch eBay and this forum for us to start talking about something we found on eBay. A few months ago a bunch of us got lamps from someone on eBay selling them for under $300. Some have found just the bulb and not the entire housing for cheap but I still don't know where to get genuine ones (I don't want knockoffs either way). My projector has over 3000 hours on the original lamp and still looks great.

It's just the way it is. Slower than heck. Your best bet is to hit pause it until it syncs up.
Gator99 and bubbrik like this.

Unless you use a HDFury device to block the HDR flag, I’m not aware of any other way to prevent the projector from switching to Gamma D when detecting HDR.
