The UB-820 is not *officially* listed as supporting Atmos as a device, by Netflix, and yet many of us do in fact get it. I have a Marantz SR7010, and it gives me 4k/HDR and Atmos when available. A friend had a somewhat older Yamaha AVR and didn't get Atmos, but when he upgraded to a newer model, he did.
I have an Anthem AVM60, and I get 4K/HDR from Netflix, but I haven't seen Atmos on any of the shows that are listed as having it. My ub820 firmware is up to date. I don't know why that would be.

As I said, it's hit or miss on this particular thing. Atmos is not officially supported by Netflix for the UB-820, that is, it's not on their list of supported devices, so basically it's a matter of luck if your electronics happen to work with it. In this sense, since it's not supported by Neflix, it's more unexpected for one's AVR to *have* Atmos than to not have it.

AFAIK, there's nothing you can do about it. It doesn't say anything negative about your Anthem electronics. Perhaps this will change over time, but for now, it is what it is.

Could not agree more, if you are not using the features of the Oppo, dump it now while it is worth something

My understanding is yes. Your friend has a built in JVC Gamma curve instead of defaulting Gamma D like us. When I was poking around those threads to see if the new built-in JVC curve fixed all the issues I noticed they were also loading custom curves.

I am not sure if they are using the same curves (like JAVS curves) or something else. I also don't know if it defaults to the JVC curve (like ours does to D) or if it will automatically switch to the loaded custom one. Also, pretty sure the actual PC software they use is different too.

I think the general consensus is the built in JVC Gamma curve is good but the custom/premade curves are better. Either way, the difference will not be as big as it was for us. Gamma D was so very awful.

Yes, i agree, Gamma D not so good :0/

My RS looks damn good, theres a bit of fiddle’n around when getting it setup, but once locked on, its solid.

They are not bad, depending on the screen size. You can fine-tune them as shown in the link in my signature.

Maybe a stupid question (but hey, what can I do)
Does it matter if I turn on Dolby Vision or HDR10 in my Panasonic UB9000 if the projector doesn't support it?
That is, will it have a negative impact on image quality?

Anyone have hi heat issue with their 400 on High lamp power....
Screen goes blank, functions dont work while screen is black.

I have a vaulted ceiling which really traps hot air well

This is the first such issue I can recall reading. If it is due to heat, you might try high altitude mode. That moves a lot more air through the projector.

Good luck
