Thanks!
I did mine about a month ago. Picture is great. Like a new projector. When you change bulb I would wear latex gloves and avoid touching the bulb. The screws on my housing were a little hard to loosen. Use the correct screwdriver and be careful not to round off the head of the screws.

Read an article about the panasonic ub420, if i have already loaded my curves and the 60nit curve is the most used, and works well, why would I benefit from tone mapping ??

Your tone mapping curve is fixed, whereas the Panasonic tone mapping is optimized for each movie, assuming the metadata is correct.

You can set up the UB420 to output HDR, in which case it adjusts its output according to the movie but still uses your fixed curves; or set it up to output “SDR/BT.2020”, in which case it bypasses your curves.

Some people prefer the first approach, others the second.

From what I understand, for our needs the 420 & 820 are functionally identical. The 420 simply doesn’t have DV. If I was buying today it’d probably be the UB420, now that it is available. I have a UB820 & JVC Optimal Settings Guide. The UB420 should be identical or extremely similar (still waiting on a UB420 owner to confirm this for me).

I wouldn’t think to hard on this. What the RS400 can look like with a 420/820 is pretty outstanding, no hyperbole.

I use some cheap Samsung brand ones, I know there is a guide floating around that has a breakdown of what glasses are best.

There are some polarization differences so some glasses are better than others and let more light through ("brighter"). I do know the JVC ones are the 'brightest' but are ridiculously overpriced.

I read something about rotating the glasses 90° to see the 'potential brightness' or something. I can't find the post but I know there is a post somewhere here that has more details about what I'm trying to say.

Hi,

I have this https://www.hi-shock.de/en/rf-pro-hi...-900-polarized and work perfectly with my JVC RS400
The issuer also bought it from them. Very cheap and works perfectly

I have the issue that when i start a 3D movie (JVX DLA-X5000) the picture (seen through the official JVC glasses) is much too dark (actually pitch-black!).

It can also be observed on the highlight color of the on-screen-display which normally looks yellow, it turns dark orange.

But i can fix it by pressing the "3D FORMAT" button numerous times so it cycles through all the modes: Auto, Side by Side, Top and Bottom, 2D, until the picture suddenly shifts into correct brightness.

It is totally random which setting gives the correct brightness, sometimes i have to press one time, sometimes 10 times to fix it.

Normally a setting of "Auto" should give the correct brightness, but i have to fix it manually each time.

To rule out any problems with the AVR i have tried to connect the source (a Dune HD media player) directly to the projector, but it made no difference.

Any suggestions to what might be the cause of this?
