Unhappy JVC DLA-RS400 (X550/X5000) DEAD after trying to update the firmware

I wanted to update the firmware to u83.2

As described by JVC, within standby (only red LED on) I clicked "Write all flash" of the update tool.
Then all LEDs turned on, green-orange-red, also as described.
After a few seconds the tool showed "Communication failed".
Then all LEDs turned off and stayed like this until now.

Whatever I try, no matter which of the buttons I press, taking the power cord off and connecting it again ... no LED, no power up, absolutely nothing happens. Dead!
Only the yellow LED of the ethernet connector indicates that it has power.

Any ideas?

small update:
I was able to get into flash mode by pressing "input" while connecting power (like in the update manual for the X500).

I extracted the bootloader of the firmware update file, converted it from srec to hex and flashed it with "Flash Magic".
No change.

I even tried the X500 bootloader hex file provided by JVC.
I already thought I got it. Red standby LED was on and "warning" was flashing.
But still no luck flashing the full firmware.

Sorry to hear that! Worse case scenario you have to ship it to Mendtronix (JVC service) to revive it if JVC support cannot give any other help over the phone -- they might cover it as a warranty repair.

Odd. We're you using the recommended cables and USB adaptor (if not using a real RS232 port)? My update went smoothly without hiccup. As pointed out, you might need to send it in to Mendtronix if you can't get it resolved.
