The 600/500 thread is alive and well. The 620/520 are newer models, but this thread isn't.

The 520/620 are newer but there’s hardly anything specific to them worth discussing.

They should merge this with the 790/990 thread. Basically the same in most cases.

There are probably four times as many 500/600 owners compared to 520/620 owners. The 500/600 year was a banner year for JVC.

Does the RS400 and the RS620 use the same lamp? The replacement lamp that came with my RS400 is a PK-L2615UP.

Is the RS620 E-shift 5 or 4?

The RS4x0, 5x0, 6x0 projectors all use the PK-L2615UP lamp, with the 265W Ushio NSHA250JK bulb.

Does 300 more lumens (620 vs. 400) make a significant difference for HDR?

Is the HDR Picture Mode pretty close till a calibration can be had? Same question for any of the other Picture Modes for 1080P?

The picture quality is quite a bit better with the 5x0 and 6x0 projectors, but mainly because of the contrast and the wider colour gamut, not the extra brightness. As a matter of fact, HDR may be dimmer on the higher models, as the colour filter cuts the brightness by more than the 300 lumens difference.

x7500 iris noise

Hi All,

Recently I started to hear some dynamic iris noise (set to auto 2) during watching movies which if was not there, or at least as I remember never drew my attention since I have the projector (it's about 1.5 years old with 860 hours or so).

After the movie I checked it in manual mode, swiping through -15 to 0 and to me it sounds not so healthy, here's a
. During the film we heard something like series of those small noise/clicks as with every other step.

Could you take a listen please and compare to your setup? What's your experience on this?

BTW, I also started to notice that in high lamp the fan developed some fixed constant frequency tone (like if bearing wears out or so) beside the usual fan noise. Anybody experienced anything like this?

Thanks in advance,

igy

Completely normal.

The louder of the two sounds is the hidden internal iris moving, the quiter one is the external lens iris which you can see.

Dont worry about it, thats how it sounds.

As Javs said, that sound is correct. Your unit is operating as it was designed.

Thanks for the quick answers! So it's normal that the iris movements are sometimes hearable during movies (I'm relatively close seated, around 2.5m away to the PJ)?

Do most of you 520/620 owners use the HDR2020 setting or convert to SDR2020 for HDR material?

Need help. Just set up my RS620 and everything works well except it shows no input when trying to use Oppo 203. My Roku and Directv work fine. Seems like there is a HDMI handshake issue. I get sound coming out of my Denon AVR but no picture. Is there a certain setting i need. I even hooked up my Oppo to another tv and changed the settings but still nothing. I have everthing running through my AVR and then out to the JVC project. Thanks for the help

What AVR and what HDMI cable are you using?

Okay, you are using the Oppo with the Oppo cable to feed the signal to the AVR, but what HDMI cable are you using to send the signal to the projector?

I would give it a 1% chance the problem is the projector. No, there is no firmware update for the projector to solve this problem. As I asked before, what HDMI cable are you using from the AVR to the projector? Is pretty easy to prove it is not the projector, take the HDMI cable that came with the Oppo 203 and connect the Oppo 203 directly to the projector, using the HDMI main out.

How sure are you is the question... You have to eliminate this from the equation as mentioned.

The Oppo 203 has 2 HDMI outputs. Only Main HDMI carries video (plus audio). The other HDMI carries black video with audio. Which output are you using into the PJ?

Can anyone recommend a good AV processor to upgrade too that will pass the correct signal so that I dont need to use the HDLINKER to get the higher contrast in HDR mode? Is the Anthem AVM60 a good choice or is there anything better for under $5000?

Depending on what displays you are using, the Anthem could be your worst nightmare. The fatal flaw is you can't assign an HDMI output to a specific input. I have been through the ringer and finally have my MRX720 working with an HDFury Vertex.

Is you place dusty? A dirty filter can cause the fan to be louder or develop a pitch.

That sucks. Yah I need to upgrade my Pre Amp as it is not even hdmi and have been using it for 13 years now. Just need a good pre amp with video processing so I can clean up the chain and get rid of my hdmi switcher and multiple hdmi cables going to the projector. Also confused on upgrade paths as far as hdmi versions. Would have to lay down a good amount of coin only to have to upgrade again in a year.

Oh and as far as displays go I have the RS520 and am probably going to upgrade to another JVC in the next year as I just love their black levels.
