I'll go through the settings and let you know. I know you can change color and contrast. Didn't see gamma yesterday when I was playing with it.
You attached the data sheet, i found the full pdf online attached here - https://ufile.io/7qhi3

Funny in their official data sheet they also put 2000:1 native but in the manual 1300:1

I dont suppose your able to measure true native contrast and send us some real results?

Not really too projector tech saavy haha. Let me know how to do that and I can try?

I'm about to hang up a screen until my official one comes in! Every day feels so long haha. It's just a six year old white gain one we had packed up from our old house. I'll take some menu photo options shortly after.

Should still give you a good picture with lights off for now. Thanks for keeping us informed

Not so bad, So very very basic calibration settings, no Gamma options and the most basic RGB Adjustments.

I noticed there is an MEMC settings i think that stands for - "Install Motion Estimation & Motion Compensation (MEMC) to catch transient action without lagging"

Should try to turn that on and see if motion improves.

What i dont see is dynamic contrast settings on/off they calming dynamic contrast 100000:1 is there an automatic iris do you see any dynamic contrast options?

Other then that, hows does it look playing video/film overall? motion clearly contrast?

I bet with a dark ALR screen contrast will improve a lot more, especially with 5000 Lum, you should probably go for a 0.6-0.7 gain dark almost black screen.

Thanks again for the photos very helpful !

EDIT:

Having MEMC also confirm this has basically all features noted here - https://vsbg.coretronic.com/products...d966ac9/detail
for the U50K

So can we assume it also has "Wider color gamut up to DCI-P3 (130% REC709) coverage"

Looking good.

Is it possible there is a hidden menu?

This might be a good option, about half the price of a SI Black Diamond

I wouldn’t be so sure the Dell has a rating of a 1000 lumens more, this suggests it has a different color wheel. Also if the Dell had a wider color gamut I pretty sure they would have mentioned it in the spec sheet.

Looking good.

Just tried to multi quote for the first time and all my replies got jumbled with the quote above?

It seems they used all the same hardware i'd doubt they would settle on a deferent color wheel? maybe they boosted the laser a bit more to gain more brightness but that can somewhat adjusted calibrating brightness/contrast settings to get better color accuracy.

Heck if they did change only the color wheel, maybe its worth buying w/e color wheel the "U50K" is using to get DCI-P3 and just replacing the Color wheel and changing the entire firmware

BTW the specs for the dell dont say rec709 or BT.2020 OR DCI-P3 it simply says "Colors 1.07 billion" and i think 30 bits-per-pixel = 1,073,741,824 === DCI-P3 so == same color wheel ?

I think the only think missing on this thing is the dynamic black 1,2,3 that the UHZ65 with the same chip has. but it is Looking good.

Sorry, wasn’t trying to dis your equipment. In fact I think it will be pretty close to the uhz either way if calibrated. But I haven’t seen either in person. I think if it’s paired with a good ALR screen it would probably beet most projector setups close to the same cost.

I got a 0.6 CLR screen coming in . I'll be sure to update with proper pics and videos when that comes in. I also believe most of these short throw projectors are using the same chip.

The spec sheet has been posted several times in this thread already, that's why the numbers are being discussed. But the most recent is on page 2, post 60.

@zee.dh have you tried the MEMC on/off options does it improve motion blue?

Can you post a video showing some high action motion ?

Yes, I turned it on. I didn't notice a difference, but I would assume it has to do more with gaming. Don't have a console to test it with yet.

I'll try and post a video tonight with it on and off!

@zee.dh did you see any settings that allow you to set dynamic black levels like in the UHZ65, they claim dynamic contrast 100000:1 so i'd assume they put something in the settings to adjust black levels.

The UHZ65 has dynamic black 1,2,3 where in 3 it will shut down the laser completely to get full black, Both have the same chip so in theory "I THINK" this can be done with the hardware the dell already has, just a matter of if they added it to their firmware.

Some expert opinion is welcome, if the Dell can be adjusted to do that it would be a winner.

Looking at the posted menus I see nothing that indicates a dynamic black mode. There is a chance the Dell does not have this at all as the audience it is primarily aimed at (ambient light, presentations, professional use) probably would never use such a feature. Dynamic Black is more of a dark room/home theater feature.

Nothing I see to adjust the dynamic black.

Thats Unfortunate... I See a "movie" settings in the menu i'd assume thats where the dynamic contrast kicks in.

Yeah I did! I'm just not sure how to upload it here..?

Had a chance to watch a movie on the projector last night. Came out really impressed, especially since my screen still hasn't come in. Quality and depth of colors were really good. I haven't owned a projector in a long time, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but was really happy with what I was seeing!

Many thanks to both mercuryy and zee.dh for posting the user manual and video clip.

A few quesitions:

1. There's no mention of 1080p/24 and 1080p/50 in the manual. Would this be a problem for older non-4k blu-rays players?
2. Does it use the pseudo 4K DLP XPR chipset with 2716x1528 mirrors similar to those used in inexpensive units (vivitek, optoma, acer)?
3. Is the colour wheel RGBRGB?
4. Is the RJ45 port 1Gbps?
5. Any FI?
6. Is the PEII clip taken from a 4k/50Hz blu-ray disc?

Best regards,

Best regards,
I think its supports 1080p/24 and 50
yes its uses the same chip with XPR like the optoma and acer, but it also says "Dual LVDS" on the specs for this chip but not on the optoma and acer so that might be some addon tech.
If its like the K50U model that says it support dci-p3 almost 100% then i'd think it has to be a RGBRGB but again they do not say in the specs.
not in specs
yes it has FI they call it MEMC
not sure what your referring to.

Hope some more people get active on this thread, that next 4k UST costs 25,000$ compared to the dell would think more people be interested in this.

My shipping date is now delayed to 12/20-12/27 - can't wait to get my hands on it! My main concern is black levels and contrast, though the video above makes me more confident both will be fine.

When did you place your order? I ordered on the 23rd and my original delivery date was by the 12th. I was also rescheduled, 18th-21st. I am not very optimistic at this point. Last time I checked it still has not shipped and I've spoken to a couple people at Dell who doesn't seem to know what's going on. I was even given two of the product managers email addresses and they haven't responded at all.

Very frustrating.
