Best Purchase Place and 4k Projector Suggestions

Hey Guys,

The JVC520RS came highly recommended to me and I have 5k to spend. Can someone help with a good place to purchase and I want to be sure to get one with the CMD banding fixed. Is this possible?

My priorities are deep blacks and HDR in a fully light controlled room--122" screen. UHD is nice but I may not need true 4k. I also need motorized lens shift and memory.

Like probably many of you, I was waiting for CEDIA announcements but now my head is spinning more than ever!

What would you buy?

Audio: Marantz SR7010 / XPA-3 / UPA-7 Sources: Nvidia Shield / Xbox One
7. Ascend Acoustics Sierra-2 (L R C), Ascend Acoustics HTM-200SE (side & rear)
2. Subs: SVS PC-2000 & eD A3-300 12" / Sensory: Aura Pro Bass Shakers
4 HTM-200SE for Atmos/DTS:X

You'll definitely want to go with either the JVC DLA-RS540 or RS640 just announced at CEDIA. Pre-order pricing should come up soon.

Give @Craig Peer or @Mike Garrett a call at AV Science. They are extremely knowledgeable about all of the projectors (JVC, Sony, Epson, etc.) and can ensure you get the best one for your needs. Their service and pricing are the best. I bought my current projector from them. You'll see that they post quite regularly in the projector threads.

Keep in mind they were just at CEDIA this week so their phones will likely be ringing off the hook this week - so be patient.

if your budget is 5K I would just pick up the 540 since it will have the CMD fix out of the box and also enables DI with UHD HDR.

you're going to be shocked when you see the JVC vs the Panasonic 8000. Much brighter, sharper and significantly better native contrast.

Awesome, thanks guys—if I can get it for around 5k, sounds like that’s the one. I can’t wait to see the improvement and I’m hoping it’s so good that I can even zoom 2.35:1 without my lens.

I need to look it up but what is DI and what will that do for me?

EDIT: dynamic iris. Duh

At 5K price point or less, the RS520, RS620, RS540 and VW285 are the options to look at.
