The strange thing is - when I zoom the image the flaws in the blue and red remain even though the characters are far larger than the pixel density on my iMac screen. It's more like a limitation in the OS or video card rather than the LCD display. Something really strange going on here. That pattern is a real torture test.

My NX7 looks very similar to the NX9. None of this is visible at a normal viewing distance of course but it's fascinating nonetheless.

The Christie is amazing. What a machine that is!
On my PC Display Which happens to be a UHDTV it looks absolutely flawless and perfect obviously, and essentially identical to the single chip Christie..

Nigels further back screen-shot looks a lot more uniform, so we are getting into nano-territory here. Still the doubling thing is interesting, if they can improve it, even better.

Worth checking the Motion Enhance setting, as that changes the panel drive? @ARROW-AV , is that set to off?

Notice anything?

Which is better

I think this is just down to sample variance rather than a larger underlying issue. As in, its a non-issue where the wide range of units is concerned.

As was said, no projector is perfect with this, I am satisfied that the left image is how its meant to look in the bigger picture of things.

Nigel, pretty dying to know what you come up with regarding ADL range honestly... ANSI and dynamic performance.

Thanks mate.

Is this a 4096x2160 image or is it 3840x2160? If it's 3840, is it possible that it's stretching the image to 17:9, or are there black bars on the sides?

Either.

Point is, honestly I am glad its doing this in way, if it uniformly did that over the whole screen I would be wondering why, now I know its that sample and there are areas where it does not seem to do it at all, and any of them would do it to a degree somewhere.

Hell, even my 9500 is not perfect all over, the right hand side 1/3rd of the queen gets into a somewhat questionable level of performance but most of it is stellar aside from that razor sharp pixel definition. But of course it spectacularly fails this native 4K pattern as you know.

The 9900's I had here, and others I have seen posted around, they all seemed to have a real issue with the right hand side of the screen assuming shelf mounted. Left would be stellar, right would start drifting.

It would be "Preferable" though IF the non consistency was NOT in the centre .... left/right/top/bottom ....OK ....but centre is the focus point of viewing..

You know, i'm not sure if i would keep my xn9 if it arrived with that issue. I would expect this out of a cheaper sony with a plastic lens, but not the nx9. Let's hope it's just a sleepy unit waking up. Or let's wait for more tests and pics from other members, i guess. at least focus uniformity is good.

@ARROW-AV can you try with the lens on center and zero lens shift? If it's not too much of a pita to do?

That Quick Brown Fox pic on the new Christie is godlike. I mean...it isn't fair. It's perfection. Too bad it will probably cost as much as a NICE house. Nobody (us regular folks anyway) should even see a demo of that Christie projector cause they'll be spoiled forever!

Yep, if you are going to use 4k test patterns and pixel peep, you are going to find issues with any projector. 3' from the screen one of the toughest test patterns looked great.

Believe it or not in the flesh it actually looks way better than those photos, because the insane dynamic range is beyond the capability of the flagship Nikon camera plus lens even using HDR photography, and the potency of the colours and luminance kept clipping my camera... in short, it is impossible to photograph the full extent of what it looks like... which is utterly mesmerizing

Here's my review of the projector for those who have not read it yet: NEW CHRISTIE HIGH CONTRAST 4K HDR RGB LASER PROJECTOR REVIEW
