It reacts as if you use the "hide" button from the remote.

Firmware is 1.18

One of the user also reports a black out of the picture after 20 minutes (happened once), it looks like the iris is shut/closed.

Do any of you happen to experience these long time before the D-ILA logo show ?

We are waiting for reports from another guy who got his N7 yesterday.

Thanks in advance for your feedbacks on this matter.
None of these issues on my N7 (oktober build date). However I had a noisy DI so I am expecting a new unit this week or the next.

According to what I've heard there is no double iris. And this source is directly from JVC. Body weight differences between the DLA- X5*** and X7*** and now the N5-N7 have always been 0,2kg sinds the introduction of the X5000 and X7000 series.

In the X7900 there is definitely no double iris as well. I am very curious where this info is all coming from. Until now there isn't any documented proof just speculations appearing on fora. If I am wrong I am all ears.

This is the only time the lamp iris is moved.

The N5 only has the lens iris that works the same way and also handles the dynamic iris behavior.

JVC have been made aware of this!!!

As your unit is an N7 its obviously not just related to the NX9..
Since I am expecting my new N7 to replace the one that "developed"? the noisy DI, I am very interested in this issue (No I wont ever try to trigger this ). I dont believe my N7 had the noise when I first got it, but that it developed some days later. I did hear "not so pleasant sounds" from the projector at one instance. So how exactly do we avoid to trigger this event? I did test back and forth extremely much during the first few days (I have 134hours on the lamp since I got it..), trying different settings. I plan to leave everything at DI Auto1 and not touch manual aperture at all on the new unit.

Yes, you are completely wrong and spreading misinformation I'm afraid.

I know very well there is a lamp iris on X7900 as my lamp iris broke. You can clealy discern the difference in how they operate, they are quite distinct.

Ekki from Cine4Home took apart the X70 when it first arrived in the market and showed the lamp iris mechanism. The mechanical setup of the DLA-X series hasn't changed, but if you don't believe me go and buy an X7900 and take it apart yourself... :-p

Have a look here:
http://www.cine4home.de/tests/projek...est_Finala.htm
Edit: Actually the teardown was originally done with the original X7 (NOT NX7! ) model here: http://www.cine4home.de/tests/projek...chsspecial.htm

Edit: This is from Cine4home; I'm copying the relevant section here so you can find it in the text. If Ekki wants this deleting I'm happy to of course. I hope he will take apart a new NX7 and show the physical mechanism used for lamp iris.

Both issues sound like HDMI Cable issues to me ... too long or not UHD compliant, so the chain can’t get a sync or resyncs after the hdcp window resets.

Production delays happen, no one wants them but it happens every year on electronics. At this point there is no time frame. Units come in then they go out to the pre-orders on hand. Sooner or later the backlog will be over

Thx for your reply but it shouldn't impact the display of the D-ILA logo ?
We'll try with no HDMI cable to see if it reacts differently !

Got word that RS1000's and 2000's going out tonight or first thing tomorrow for shipping. Mine is one of the RS2000's. Now it just needs to come back across country. How long is the drive from Denver to NY So US will see several in hands soon.

Yes and thanks Mike also.....because they made the wise decision as painful it is to be sure they are double boxed.

Same result with no HDMI cable connected.
Another user had to wait 56 seconds before the D-ILA logo appears on a N7 VP.

The only ones that use the color filter are: BT.2020, DCI, and CINEMA; wherein ALL of these do not track REC.709, but track either BT.2020 (BT.2020) or DCI-P3 (DCI / CINEMA) color gamuts, so cannot be used with SDR

Can anyone recommend some links that help a layman understand these gamut charts, tracking of color spaces/profiles and the way that primaries and secondaries come into play. I'm managing to fumble my way through the basics of these conversations but feel like a Calbration for Dummies course would certainly be helpful as Nigel, Manni, Wookie and others are talking in tongues

I understand the basics of calibration, why you want a delta below 3 widgets, why colors need to track well through all levels of saturation etc etc. But when we start getting into tracking P3 within 2020 containers I start glazing over with confusion.

Spoiler!

I understand what you are saying about Cinema Mode and the Cinema color profile mapping to P3 instead of BT.709. I guess my question is when would you use Cinema mode and Cinema color profile. Isn't all HD TV and 1080p Blu-ray outputting in BT.709? Why would cinema mode be an option if it is completely over saturating and distorting colors? I have compared using Cinema mode with BT.709 and using Cinema mode with Cinema color profile and there is an obvious color boost when using cinema color profile. However, it doesn't look bad and in some ways improves upon the washed out limited range of BT.709 but I do agree that it can sometimes create oversaturated skin tones. So what is the difference between using Natural with Bt. 709 profile and using Cinema with BT. 709 profile?

Question: Does JVC Autocal does a good enough job of 'calibrating' the projector? I mean if you compare that to a professional calibration does it get you 80% close enough?

Also how much does professional calibration cost? Thousands of dollars?
