The 4K DLPs throw the least impressive picture of any modern $2k+ projector I've seen, but those room conditions will limit just how much improvement you will see going to a Sony or JVC. I would still guess that you would see an improvement, just perhaps not enough to justify the cost. With some room changes either would easily trounce the DLP. You may also want to consider an Epson 5040 (or whatever has replaced it). You would still see a considerable bump in picture quality for less than the Sony or JVC.
I have a UHD65 and it thows a great picture in my dark room. I agree, not sure in that room that you are going to get the benefit. You may even want to look at the UHZ65 or BenQ to get a bright image. I am moving to an RS2000 but I have an ideal room.
