I spent the last three afternoons/evenings re-doing by blocking, moving power/data in the ceiling, and re-installing the projector mount in preparation for my RS2000 (v2.04 out of the box). While this is only my second projector, I don't have any previous experience with or exposure to JVC projectors. I watched about 30 minutes of Passengers in Cinema mode (with all other settings on defaults) and I am very impressed with this unit. Even my 15 year old thought our previous projector looked great, but he is already blown away by the RS2000.

Time to play with settings and watch a whole movie now...

Does anyone know how to get a single button push to set one of the install memories while using the Harmony Elite with the Harmony Hub?

I am surprised how few commands are available for the rs2000/nx7 in the Harmony setup. Perhaps I should switch it to an older JVC projector?

Watched most of Ralph Breaks the Internet last night in UHD, and holy cow, I'm liking this projector...

I followed these instructions to setup my RS2000 and UB9000. The only extra thing I did was to bump up the tone curve a few notches on the UB9000 so make the overall image a bit brighter and set brightness on the projector to -3 to fix the raised black floor. High lamp, DI set to Auto 2.

There are hex codes for all 10 of the lens memories. You can program those into your harmony. They'll switch to an installation mode and show the HUD onscreen while doing this. There are 10 IP codes that can switch without showing the HUD. What's the format you need to add something to harmony?

@ARROW-AV posted recommended settings for the RS2000 and RS3000, however, the RS1000 section is empty. Without searching through 9500 posts, does anyone have recommended settings and configurations for the RS1000? My room is finally ready for my RS1000 and I am hoping to find some helpful setting & config suggestions.

Thanks everyone!!!

I think the settings between RS1000 and RS2000 should basically be the same. Just take those settings.

Thanks for this info. I noticed today when I turned on my RS2000 that it defaulted to the HDR10 mode and not User1 that I had set up. I noticed that it said something about this at the end of the post. What I want to do is set it up to default to User1 and be able to setup User2 for standard Blu-ray movies.

Ok i've got it. They work and i must say i'm a big fan of 3D movies, i've had 3D projectors and tv but i have never seen such a beautiful 3D image. Never! Perfect brightness, zero ghosting and crosstalk (and i mean ZERO even in the most difficult discs/scenes) overall an incredible 3D performance, much better than the best DLP projectors i've seen (and DLP for 3D was a must). With this series N Jvc nailed the 3D performance to a higher level.

Now i'm really pissed that i've bought over $400 of original Jvc glasses that don't work!

I'm starting to "play around" with these beasts right now, like you, but what i have learned so far is that when detecting HDR content the vpr auto set up to HDR mode and there's no way (at least i didn't found one so far) to automatically go for a saved preset, you have to change manually every time.

I need to play around with some standard BR movies to see what it does. It did look amazing with the default HDR10 mode also. I can't get over the colors and the intensity of them. Hard to stop watching!

You can change the default HDR Picture mode. See “HDR10 Auto Select” on page 52 of the manual.

You'll be amazed on how good it looks on standard bluray. 1080p rec709 signal is more "plug and play" then 4K HDR and with no big adjustments you'll have an amazing image. I suggest to use the "Natural" preset on the Jvc it is something to be seen to believe it.

Or you could take the device profile for "JVC DLA-NX9".

I have one other silly question for the community. Are there any gotcha for firmware updating for RS1000? I was on the first pre-order, and again, am just opening the box to get things rolling. Anything I SHOULDNT do?

Can any NX-7 owners tell me how is the contrast compared to X790R. There is currently no NX-7 available for demo near my place. I was not impressed with the NX-5 in regards to contrast and is out of my consideration.

I got the N5 and saw the N7 right next to it, the real life differences are very little.

Epson also seems to bake in more default sharpening. JVC has much sharper optics but there's very little image processing/sharpening and the lack of a pixel gap tends to look "smooth". This isn't meant to put down the Epson, I think they represent a fantastic value and offer excellent performance for their market segment. But I believe a lot of the "sharpness" that gets attributed to them is due to these factors. Take a good player, like the Panasonic 820, and tweak the sharpness settings. I think you'll see a lot of what the Epson is doing on your JVC.
Absolutely true. I remember when looking at two panels (in the old days) and from the proper distance the 720 looked sharper than the 1024.

I am close to cancelling my N7 order as well as again it has been postponed to April 30th. This is (including my NX9 preorder which I cancelled somewhere around February about the 6th or 7th shift in delivery. As we are getting closer to the next gen I might keep my X7000 up and running for now and wait for autumn either for an N70 or NX90 (with laser).
alebonau and loggeo like this.

I'm looking for a discrete IR code for the HDR picture mode for the N7? Thats the one that I miss. Dies anybody have this? Or RS232?

Still using Pronto's here :-)

What makes you think there will be a next gen soon?

JVC usually announces new product at CEDIA in Sept. Rarely do they announce new product two years in a row for the same model. My guess is the only new projector at CEDIA in Sept will be an update to the 3 year old RS4500 which is in a completely different price range than the N7 or N9.

JVC is still working on new firmware and trying to produce 2019 products. It will be a long wait for a new generation of the N5,N7,N9 series.
