I just read in the Optoma P1 thread that it is getting a price increase because of the tariffs. Wonder if that was why price went up a bit on Amazon, or if price may go up even higher in the near future.

So I decided to try the Vava. I had an order for the Optoma P1 but looks like shipments are delayed. And the Epson EHLS500 hasn’t been released yet. So b I’ll give it a try.

Anyone here have the firmware update or can direct me to the link where I can download it. Does Vava ever respond to their emails?

Looks like VAVA is already on BF sale, there is even a bundle with a screen, but seems sold out.

Cheaper if buying directly from them since no tax, but I am still on the fence. Watched some videos that IQ isn't as good as P1.

Not sure I can take his reviews too serious after seeing him try to adjust blown out highlights with the brightness control.

I contemplated a bit but BF deal was sweet and there is no risk with AZ so I pulled the trigger and ordered one.

Btw the guy who reviewed bunch of other UST projectors posted recently about VAVA:

Cool, I bet it'll be a nice display. I got one of the first Optoma P1's. We love it, but who knows when they'll be available again or what the new higher price will be. The Vava is probably a good move at this point in time.
Make sure to post your impressions and what your new setup is like when you get it. Congrats!

Thought I would put a couple of quick pictures up. Screen is 120” white. Setup is not ideal but this is my initial setup.

Thought I would add that it looks like Vava is selling a 100” ALR screen now. Looks like it is their branded screen.

They are selling a 100" ALR bundle with Vava on BF, but I don't really want 100", waiting for acceptable prices on 120"

I wonder who really makes it, Elite, XY? Would probably have to see the frame construction to know.

My VAVA is en route should receive it Thursday. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint over Xiaomi 1080p which has been daily workhorse for almost a year now.

I am looking into getting this one with a 110" screen. Does anyone know how far from the screen it has to be to throw 110" image? I want to make sure my setup can accommodate it. Also, is there any adjustment on how high the image is over the projector? I have a chair rail on the wall that I need the screen to be above and my console is pretty low. I may have to build a raised shelf but just want to know what I am in for before I pull the trigger.

7.2 inches for 100" and 11" for 120" to the back of the unit, so somewhere in between that. You can't adjust height, so for anything larger then 120" you would want low to the ground (I have it at 3"), for 110" I would raise it up maybe 10"... but you waited a day too long, it was like $500 off until cyber Monday on Amazon.

Thank you. Screen will be higher on the wall and I have high ceilings, hope to use my existing console which is about 25" tall I think. I attached a sloppy mockup of where the screen will go (just using a cut out of an enlarged tv to 110." I have to find a screen that will clear the chair rail on the wall......and having no center channel kind of stinks too.

I am sure there will be more sales.....until then my 82" TV will due.

I don't have VAVA yet, but on my Xiaomi image is projected 10" above the unit for 110" size and I measured distance is actually 11" from the wall, but unit is smaller then VAVA

I am loving this thing. It's brighter, quieter and obviously sharper in 4k then my trusty 1080p Xiaomi. It's also larger and heavier. Matte white is nice hopefully doesn't scratch as easily as glossy white.

On the noise because this was critical for me... it's certainly quieter then Xiaomi with its ear piercing whine, but there is some very faint whine along with some fan noise which cycles on/off occasionally. Although not that noticeable during normal movie watching unlike in Xiaomi which i could always hear. Overall I find it satisfactory.

Software is crappy it would have been nice to have regular Android but i was planning to use shield anyway Its nice you can boot directly to your source unlike in Xiaomi global.

1080p image is identical except Xiaomi is less bright. I got image settings nearly identical and played 1080p movie side by side. You wouldn't be able to tell a difference where one is released in 2017 and the other one in 2019.

Aside from that it's already totally worth the upgrade for 4k content especially what they were going for on BF. Definitely a keeper.

Hey everyone,

It's Allen from VAVA, and I'm just writing to let you know, before ANYONE else...

That the VAVA 4K Laser Projector will be LAUNCHING on Indiegogo next Tuesday, April 30th at 8 AM PT!

If you haven’t already, I recommend reserving your VAVA 4K Laser Projector for only $1.

Because on the first day of the campaign, we’ll be giving VIPs access to the best discount we will offer of 29% off retail before anyone else.

Remember, with the VAVA 4K Laser Projector you'll get:
4K UHD Resolution
Laser technology with bulbs that last up to 20,000 hours
Integrated Harmon Kardon speakers
Projects up to a 150" screen
Only needs to be 8.5" from the wall
Uses ALDP 3.0 to get movie theater quality video

Thank you, and talk soon,

- Allen

General Manager
VAVA

P.S. If you don’t upgrade to VIP, you’ll still get a launch discount, but it won’t be as big as the VIP discount!

Hi Allen, how does the VAVA 4K compare to the Optoma P1 in your honest and preferrably non-biased opinion ?

Does the VAVA have FI (Frame interpolation) for fast action sports ?

Vava sold a lot of 100" ALR screens on Black Friday. Still waiting for the reviews to trickle in.

Why do you need review of ALR screen? It's just ALR screen, I wish they offered 120" for that price
