Does this 660€ worth or not?
270ES has beautiful gradient, i think better than 360ES and that is really important to me.
But 360ES has iris (and lens shift). Is this lens shift really that important, is it really big problem to change it every time to ratio you want?
What about picture quailty?
The 360 has lens memory and a dynamic iris for better basic contrast performance. 200,000:1 is quoted.
However, it only has 10.2Gbps HDMI ports and can only display 4K 50/60p in 4:2:0 8bit colour.
If you only watch UHD blurays at 24hz that is not an issue however. But if you watch streaming services the more modern 270 will repay with more trouble free operation.
It also has no 4K motion flow and older generation panels and Reality Creation.
The 270 has no lens memory, but all lens controls are still motorised.
It has no iris or any other physical dynamic contrast enhancement so contrast is less, but it does have the Dynamic contrast enhancer function that does work pretty well.
What it does have is 18Gbps full fat HDMI ports and can support 4K 50/60P in 4:2:2 10/12bit colour. It also has much superior video processing abilities, (X1 processor) which again add something to the perceived contrast that the 360 won't be able to match.
It also adds 4K motion flow settings and better Reality Creation power.
In theory, the 270 should have the better lens sample (but that is not easily confirmed). It will also have newer generation SXRD panels.
Best to view each of them at the same time with your favourite content and then make your mind up.
If it was me, unless you cannot live without lens memory and an iris, then the 270 is a more compelling buy simply due to the fact that the tech inside is more current and is more future facing than the 360.
I would want to buy the 360 for quite a bit less than the 270 if it was to be a good deal in my eyes as the 360 is old tech, two generations behind the 270.
I would bet that the 270's picture will be better than the 360's on 99% of occasions even with the iris taken into account.
Hope that helps. Have fun choosing!
