Epson LS500 Laser Projection TV 2019

Epson just announced at the IFA a new UST 4k projector, it seem to be released in October. (We can already found some german website that sell or pre-sale it). Any info is welcome :)

4K resolution only via LCD E-shift (IIRC not nearly as good as DLP XPR pixel shifting), in Europe available from October for probably 2,999 € MSRP.

If all the rest is good it's ok for me, the resolution is not the most important for me, and I want a projector with low input lag, so for the moment I was waiting for the optoma, but this one could have a better picture in general.

There is a 'video' here :

It's already available to buy on some german website and the delivery date is announced for the 31 October.

For a regular family room this type of projector is perfect, everything from amp, blu-ray, screen and projector all in the same place.

Buddylee123 09-06-2019 09:16 AM

If this has decent native contrast and low input lag for gaming I can see it being a big hit for living rooms, and I really like the way they made it look.

tambur123 09-06-2019 12:56 PM

They listed the same absurd contrast as on the LS100 which, in reality, is not very good (I own this projector).

colinmatheny11 09-07-2019 07:36 AM

This one has my attention. I thought about the LS 100, but the fact that it's over 2 years old, 1080p, 16:10 native and questionable contrast made me hesitate.

Hopefully this one will address the contrast issue. Seems that since the 5050 is renowned for it's contrast that Epson could figure it out;)

Also considering the Optoma P1, but I hate paying for features I don't want such as built in soundbar, smart functions, etc.

Any idea of U.S. availability?

Sounds like JVC needs to make an UST projector

Looks like it supports 3D as well...

F*** YEAH! I was SO hoping Epson would announce a refresh to the LS100 at IFA/CEDIA, it just makes sense since UST projectors are really ramping up and becoming popular as "TV replacements" and the LS100 was getting a bit long in the tooth! I am ALL about this! They should definitely get a piece of this market!

imhotep6 09-08-2019 04:06 PM

Oh wow. May hold off on the Optoma P1.

Does anyone know what the native contrast for the LS100 was?

Native contrast is about 300:1, dynamic is 1400:1. On my ls100 I keep dynamic off because it’s very visible when it kicks in and it ruins the movie :)

"2,999 Euro" price quoted.

Interesting, they went with the 3LCD instead of DLP. Good for them. And 4000 lumens. Brighter than most of the other guys and 130" instead of 120 very nice. I am interested in the calibrated measurements.

TimHuey 09-09-2019 03:54 PM

3D?

klas 09-09-2019 04:11 PM

Weak sound, 12k hours actual warranty (that's great), but that awful hump... P1 looks like it is.

Yes, it supports 3D.

Chapla1n 09-09-2019 06:16 PM

Input lag may do it for me, if it's less than the Optoma's 55ms.

Hawkmarket 09-09-2019 06:53 PM

If only it would throw 150"...….

Mike Garrett 09-09-2019 08:01 PM

You guys do know this is an E-shift projector and not native 4K.

Yeah that part doesn't bother me as long as the performance is there where I'm interested.

I already started a thread for this projector :

Hmm, didn't come up in searches when I looked, but no problem, will close this one down if I can.
