An advice: simply which is better choice a JVC RS 35 or RS4910?

Hi everyone I am sorry to bother you again with one my dilemmas. I sold my JVC RS25 in excellent condition with the idea to get a RS35/HD990. I have found a 35 in good condition at at a good price. With a different of $200 I can get the 35. I was negotiating the projector when I received the offer to buy a JVC RS4910 at a cheaper price than the 35. The 4910 is in good condition but needs a lamp replacement. Even with the replacement the 4910 would still cost me less than 35. I am asking you now, what should I do? I know it’s a complicated question but I would be grateful if you could provide any kind of suggestion. Thank you very much

+1 for 4910. I had one for a while, it's a better overall projector than the 25/35.

  • full lens controls + lens memory
  • ~1100-1200 calibrated lumens in high lamp
  • dynamic iris!
  • 3D capable if interested

Thank you for your replies. I have always known that the RS35/HD990 is the best 2D projector ever made by JVC. A friend of mine bought it few weeks ago and besides the stunning blacks and contrast it shows a perfect really perfect pixel alignment with a related beautiful sharpness, I would say razor image. I am from Italy now living in NYC. Few years ago when still in Italy I owned a JVC RS48. I had the occasion to compare it with the 49 and the most evident difference was the better sharpness in favor of the 48. Simply the focus on the 49 was not ‘perfect’ and it gave a softer image. I like a razor image. Can the 49 beats the 35 in this terms? Thank you for your assistance. Your suggestions are really important for me

It's mostly a matter of luck whether or not the focus uniformity and convergence will be "perfect" on the 49. I would say it's impossible to compare such characteristics based on model numbers, because there's really some tolerance for slight focus and/or convergence imperfections on nearly every projector. For example, my RS50 has "perfect" focus but I had to correct pixel adjustment on the menu, with great results. My RS45 is an entry level model but has "perfect" focus and convergence. I'm very sure that's luck. The RS35, as all top JVC models, supposedly has hand picked parts, so maybe it won't depend on luck as much. Other than that, even 2 49's may differ on focus uniformity and convergence.

Thank you. You’re right about luck. And you’re right about the 35 supposed ‘perfection’. I mean one would expect a perfect focus and alignment more from a ‘standard’ 35 than a ‘good’ 49....I realized in years of pj and JVCs projector that ‘focus’ is pretty essential when to a superior picture quality....or at least for my taste
