Any New, Or Upgraded 4k Projectors, $5k Or Less, Expected For CES?

Looking to move to a true 4k projector from my current JVC RS-4810 in the first or second quarter of 2010. Does anyone know if Sony plans to offer an improved version of their VPL-VW295ES, or possibly drop the price, and offer the next model up for something close to $5k? Any worthwhile changes coming from JVC in either models or pricing at the $5-6k point?

Any information or well considered possibilities that might be expected would be greatly appreciated in helping to decide in what direction to go. Right now, the Sony VPL-VW295ES is the only true 4k game in town at $5k, and I've been told, and also read in reviews, that it won't optimally provide enough lumens for my 133 inch screen.

No for Sony and No for JVC. I would also look at the RS1000.

I agree, I have an RS1000 with a 134" no gain screen, well maybe 1.1. Throw distance 17'. Plenty bright for HDR. It was great out of the box. I had Chad B. calibrate, and confirmed definitely enough lumens for HDR. This projector is wonderful! I would buy another one in a minute. You can definitely get one for under $5000.

I usually go to CES, but even JVC said don’t bother this year.

You certainly should add the RS1000 to your list.

You could even go for a RS2000 B-stock if there are any available right now.

Yes, that would also be a good option.

I would be surprised if Sony came out any new model 1080P projectors. I suspect it will only be . 4K, going forward.

Nothing new that I know of - Cedia would have been the place to announce and show that. I'm not even bothering to go to CES this year.
