LOL, I forgot that part of it. I just remember the mounts they had on display.

I thought Mark said that anything won at Cedia is property of AVScience.

For anyone else in a similar boat as the OP, Mike @ AVScience hooked me up with a B stock rs540 which I'm completely in love with. I got a rough demo at Best Buy of the 5050UB and IMHO this blows it right out of the water. Custom curves took an evening to setup with my pc and work wonderfully.

I got my first taste of 4k on the epson 5040ub blown up to about 130" on my wall last night. I'm pretty blown away with the experience. The large screen really sucks you in! Can't wait to finish building my screen, and compare it to the jvc 570 when it comes in!

Any recommendations on a new paint color for my room? I created a post in the ht/media room forum, but haven't gotten any feedback. We are considering doing either a dark blue or burgundy. Am I shooting myself badly in the foot by doing this? Would a dark gray be much better? Black is not an option.

If you get this in a matte finish it really doesn't reflect the light 2 much and I can be purchased at Lowe's that's a nice gray color

I used "Peppercorn" which is a dark gray from Sherwin Williams and it really turned out nice, but no, I don't think you'd be shooting yourself in the foot by going with another dark color such as blue or burgundy Just make sure you use a flat paint.

Thanks for the suggestions. We ended up going with "Salty Dog" from Sherwin Williams. It turned out extremely nice.

By the way, I got my first taste of the JVC X570 today. I still don't have my screen built yet, so I played a movie on the wall and WOW... I am impressed. Definitely a step above the Epson 5040UB and well worth the extra $500.

Yup, the JVC's are better than the Epsons. Only reason to get an Epson is if you want the torch mode, because frankly they are also FAR less reliable than a JVC.
I would pay the extra $500 just for the reliability difference, even if PQ was the same...
