What is DLP's Dark Chip 4's native contrast?

Anyone?

Well it depends, the native contrast is different at different light levels. Say at 500 lumens its 4000:1, at 1000 lumens its 2000:1.

My Runco LS-5 is a DC3 but the light path is so well done. I measured native contrast, meaning constant contrast was off on the Runco LS-5 and it measured at 2600:1 and dynamic at over 9,000:1. I never felt like the contrast of the LS-5 took anything away from the viewing experience.

DC4 in a similar light path would be even better.

i can second those experiences. A runco q750i has a native of around 3.5k at 400-450 lumens, dynamic 10-20k, and a sim2 mico40 2.5k native at 500-600 lumens and dynamic of 10-13k, with the color depth overall contrast is very very good.

I think native is a bit lower on rgb solid state dlp due to the dmd doesnt switch off like it does between color wheel segments but you get a much more solid and refined image free of any flicker and solarizations.

I have a planar PD8150 with what was sold to me as a DC4 and to be honest I like the DC3 that comes with the Planar better. The black levels are raised in the DC4 so to me, I would rather have the better black levels and loose the small advantage on the bright end of the scale. Could be due to the HP 2.8 as I don't really need a bright image..
OR it really isn't the DC4 as most of the numbers were removed by the use of solvents to wipe the back of the chip or so it goes.. No I did not measure it, just watched it for a couple of years before switching to an unaltered unit.
