Upgrade Epson 5020ub to 6040ub?

I'm thinking of upgrading to a newer projector but I want to keep it under $2k. Would the 6040 be a significant upgrade over the 5020? I've seen them offered remanufactured with the Epson 3yr warranty for under $2k.

Yes significant upgrade. Bigger and weighs more as well. Better blacks, sharper image, better contrast, 4k and HDR. Totally different image quality.

Noticed that my 6040UB is running an older firmware version than what is mentioned here and have been looking everywhere trying to find a download for it. Do you know where I can find it? Is Epson hiding it for some reason? TIA

did you try their website? I just purchased a 6040ub a few minutes ago, but earlier today i asked the epson rep if the projector would already have the newest firmware installed. Her response was she wasn't sure but if not go to their website and go to support under the model i was purchasing.i hope this helps.

Yes, went to the downloads section under the projector model and only downloads available are for Epson iProjection software. Kind of weird it would not be in that section.

I just went on YouTube and typed in "firmware update for epson 6040ub projectors " and there's a video by a channel called " projector reviews Inc" it has links in the description to take you straight to the download page you're looking for.

I just ordered a 6040ub to replace my 5030ub, can't wait to get it.
