Arrow Selling Samsung 51" PN51F8500

I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area (in San Jose) so local pick-ups are preferred, but I would be willing to ship if the right offer came my way. I have all of the original boxes and packaging material for all 3 sets. I am very open to negotiation of the prices so please just let me know your thoughts and we can work something out.

Panasonic 60" TC-P60ST60:
I will include the original remote, another upgraded remote with backlight, the special pen and 4 3D glasses. Self-calibrated. Asking $950

Samsung 51" PN51F8500:
I will include both remotes and 4 3D glasses. Self-calibrated. Asking $850

Pioneer Kuro Elite 50" PRO-101FD:
I will include the original remote, official Pioneer stand and official Pioneer wall-mount (neither stand are included with the monitor by default). Calibrated by D-Nice. SOLD

Why am I selling? My baby boy is just starting to crawl so I need to reduce potential hazards and get some cash to replenish our savings account (diapers ain't cheap). It was fun having all of these plasmas in the house at once, as each had their pros & cons. Who has time to watch 3 TVs though, especially with a baby at home. I started with the Kuro in 2009 and kept buying more as the models were discontinued. My wife wasn't too pleased when I picked up the F8500 (another TV...)

Again, please don't hesitate to ask any questions and I will be happy to oblige any offers (except no trades, please).

*Bonus* If anyone want a free Sony KD-34XS955 34" Super Fine Pitch CRT it's available - the picture is still great to this day. My plan was to watch it until we had the funds for a new set sometime in 2018 or so, but I am willing to let it go for free and I'll include the matching stand.

I had some friendly folks let me know my prices were a bit high so I lowered them - I appreciate the feedback.

Desparately seeking Plasmas

Neil,
Greetings from Chambersburg, PA. I killed my 2 week old 51F8500 recently with an errant small plastic bottle that was meant for the trash can. I'm still scarred from that disaster! I've tried LGs OLEDs, but they have problems.

I just now registered on AVS but have been here many times over the years. I have good feedback as "Interlochen" on Audiogon, am 57 and have been married for 30 years.

I'm interested in your Samsung if still available. West to East coast is the plasma nightmare scenario, but I will pay what it takes to get it here safely. Call me at 717-263-0128 (don't use my cell much) any time. Messaging is fine of course if leery of calls.

The P60 is certainly a possibility. I must do some quick research on the P60 but wanted to fire this off to you ASAP.
Regards,
David A Hartwick

Leeav,
I'm here! I should tell you that I'm type 1 diabetic with a absurdly chaotic sleeping schedule. I usually respond very quickly but may be sleeping, sometimes 20 hrs a pop.

1000+ hrs is 40 some days of continuous operation. I don't know the MTBF of Samsings but a I think it's a bit longer than that! I would actually prefer a unit that has more than a few hrs on it. I usually but electronics floor displays if I can - no DOA.

I did not get my 8500 in its box, so I'm not familiar with it but 15" depth is formidible. My thinking is that g-force protection is much more important than an inprobable forklift blade impalement. Only an elaborate suspension system will significantly reduce Gs on the broad front and back - the box flopping over from vertical, for example. But top, bottom and sides are doable from a Gs protection POV.

Listen, a good basic double or triple boxing may very well suffice.
Plus the right foam and maybe peanuts plus the plywood, though a full sheet of masonite cut into 4 pieces may be better and cheaper. I guess you know Home Depot, Lowes, etc. will do wood cutting.

I tend to be a perfectionist and over-think things - Don't want to drive you crazy. So please weigh in.
Dave
The only thing I can do is post in forums and receive PMs.

Leeav,
You are probably terribly busy with family and things. I've had a devil of a time plowing through the AVS noob blockades.

Could you manage a note letting me know whether you're still interested in selling me the 8500? I am a bit eccentric and you may have some interested messages from locals closer to home. I understand all of this.

Know that I'm fully committed to buying your Samsung.

Dave
Oh yes, I read a post urging either crating or palletizing. It truly sounded like he learned the hard way.

Arrow To answer questions I received regarding the Pioneer PRO-101FD Kuro Elite:

I can take pictures of the wall mount (it's boxed up - I never used it) and the Kuro Elite starter kit (fancy manual and serialized performance chart). I also have an extra power supply board for the Kuro because I was told that is the component that goes out first (I can photograph that as well if someone is interested). The Kuro has 3,298 hours and it was made in September of 2008 (eight years ago). It was professionally calibrated by D-Nice, a very well-respected calibrator who specialized in Pioneer plasma sets. I stopped watching it because I wanted to go to 60" and my nephews loved 3D. I felt that the Panasonic ST60 achieved 90% of the Kuro picture in a light-controlled room so I was satisfied. I moved the Kuro to the bedroom where it saw very little use. I find it performs best with a decent scaler/de-interlacer and the Darbee helps as well. It still is the best picture I have ever seen other than the new OLEDs (and it has a smoothness to the image that is closer to CRT than OLED). I never used the wall-mount and just used the stand mount. I have the original box. A couple of photos of the hours and the mfg date of the Kuro:
