I bought 3 of the Xbox 360 E at Target for around $40 each. They are very quiet. I do wish Silicon Dust would get the grid guide and work better with a remote.

$40 really. Wow. I had a bigger old one. So your using wmc right. You mentioned SD's guide. I guess you meant you would like to switch over to their app if possible?

I agree the guide leaves plenty to be desired. For me I only use their app to watch something live. It's good and fast for that.

Too bad Spectrum has such lousy organization of their channels. I use epg123 guide tool to renumber and sort properly for guide display in Emby. This is not possible in the HDHomeRun App.

Oh really. Are you using the guide service that comes with Emby premiere or is that something additional?

Thing is that Charter/Spectrum just added more channels when they became available so it's a mish-mash with no organization. I re-number in epg123 per Uverse channels and load them into Emby. I even disable the CableTV channels that duplicate OTA in the HDHomeRun Web GUI to save Cable tuner use for Cable only channels. Spent a good part of the weekend setting that up!

Nice, with just having the alacarte service its not too many channels for me to deal with. But I do use the HDhomerun app to delete all the SD/Junk and music.

My headless Win7pro WMC (i3) still running smoothly with it's original EPG (Some patches & .Net updates) TunerSalad/ServerWMC... 2 Verizon FiOS cable cards (two Prime's 6 Tuners)

Using several RPi's running LibreELEC/Kodi @ TV's. I program the EPG to see only the channels we watch. All recordings accessible from any Pi obviously. Can also view (Via an app) any of 8 outside security cameras (via RTSP)

Should add: Every TV has an amp/avr for ARC/CEC (hdmi to amp)

Or, can simply view HDHR Prime from my phone, or laptop (Linux) running Kodi.

Another side note... I use Audacity editor after recording sum 20 hours of FiOS music channels for roadtrips.

I've been using Prime with Spectrum for several years without issue. Recently however
I'm constantly getting errors 'Copying Prohibited' or 'No tuners available to fill request'.
And this is while watching live TV with no recordings going on. When I try to record the
recording gets broken into several files probably because of these errors. Any ideas what's
going on here?

I use it with Spectrum without issue. What software are you using to record. I would start my troubleshooting there.

I'm using Windows 7 with WMC. No addons or anything. Haven't changed
anything in years as everything has been rock solid. This is happening on
two Tv/PC's. I'm getting the errors while watching live TV. Thanks

My inkling is that you're going to need to reset your Playready.

I, like whiteboy, left WMC for Emby but I'm lucky enough to not have a whole lot of DRM'd channels in my lineup and, with the exception of AXS, I can get all of them with TVAnywhere apps or otherwise anyhow.

@whiteboy714 do you use the Prime with Emby or are you strictly OTA right now?

Yeah I am using the Prime with Spectrum and Emby. I have zero DRM'd channels, but I still just have spectrum choice, 10 channels plus locals. All in the clear, including FX which I believe is sometimes encrypted.

My setup has been rock solid, I don't think I have ever had to go reset the tuner, which wasn't the case back in the day with WMC.

Yeah, thus far since I set it up I've not had to reset the tuner but it always seemed to be those nasty TA's that always cause issues.

So you get your cable package through the cable as well as streaming then? That's pretty cool. I managed to pick up another Prime for under $100 and am waiting for Spectrum to get their act together (phone support was no use on this one for whatever reason) and send out a tech on Saturday to hopefully get it activated on my system.

The CableCARD is activated but the Tuning Adapter is not. I thought after how smooth the first activation went that this one would be smooth too but I guess not. If CableCARD's weren't so cheap I'd be making them give me a credit as I'm paying for it since last week.

Yeah thats true the TA can often be a pain, I have been pain free.

Yeah this package is weird, is was marketed more like a streaming package, but it isn't a pure streaming package (they do or at least did offer that), this package had the option for a DVR, hence the ability to use a cable card.

Did you do the activation on your own? Mine took a little bit of prodding but I got it done, I used to have it down back in the day but it had been a long time. I was looking at getting a second but right now I don't use mine much as it is.

I did do self activation on the first one and it worked fine. This second one? The TA is fighting back so I'm making them send a tech out for free to deal with it.

With my wife's TV consumption I see two and three tuners active even though I also have two Quatro Tuners! Well, it's probably me watching something good and her recording Hoarders or Real Housewives or some other mindless thing (of course to here what I'm watching is mindless too) and the tuners are getting stretched already. Even though a lot of what we record is actually OTA, I can see getting into some tuner conflicts which Emby doesn't handle too well as of yet but I always figure with more tuners you never have to worry about it.. I now have 14 tuners (well will have 14 when it gets activated).

14 wow!! No its easy to use them up I know, especially if you record reruns of anything. I am the only one that even knows how to use the live tv or dvr anymore besides the HDhomerun app.

We went without it for so long that everyone just uses netflix/prime or whatever I put in Emby.

Oh, she clicks that record button in Emby LiveTV all the time now. It's why MCEBuddy is having issues keeping up and I need a boost with a GPU! I'm going to need another recording drive next!

Ha for sure. So are you actually using Emby to view TV? I do now and again. I like how it shows the current programs like it does a movie with cover art, pretty cool.

Yeah MCEbuddy is nice but not perfect for me. I actually let it do its thing and then do the rest manually. THey add up though and I get tired of it. But it often leaves a big clip from the previous show which bugs me, but if you don't start the recording early you sometimes miss a piece.

We use Emby for LiveTV exclusively and except for the lag to create a pause buffer which can be disabled it works real well.

Spectrum has no AndroidTV client and hit up the developers at xda with s cease and desist order claiming a DMCA issue with the hacked FireTV app yet they've done nothing to introduce their own app which is pretty damn lame if you ask me.

Oh what? I didn't know that. What a bunch of jerks, they have been lagging for sure on that front. The app is whatever anyways. I mean of course I would like to have it but I have it on my Roku TV's and don't really use it.

For the Shield and quick live TV viewing, I use the HDhomerun app. Its way faster than emby. Live Channels or whatever the stock google app is is fast as well. I also added Pluto TV to it so it has like 500 channels. To bad they are all crap though lol. But an Unsolved Mysteries Chanel! You can't go wrong with that.

I meant to comment on MCEBuddy..

Yeah, I discovered that it works a lot better to mark the commercials as chapters and then use Emby's chapter seek to skip over them, including the end of the last show. This seems to hit right on but clipping them out, would chop out portions of the content you want to watch, including the conclusion of a show which is not very good at all and had a low WAF. I need to slowly work with my wife to train her how this works!

Ha yeah I think that is probably a negative on the WAF scale. I didn't know you could do the chapter marks. I might have to do some testing.

Yup, you can watch just as if it were any other DVR recording and FF through the commercials, watch the commercials or hit the up directional button in Emby and then skip to the next chapter which starts right at the end of the commercials. It is genius.
