Zoom Player v11.1 has been released, the initial post in this thread includes all the new information.

hammerdwn:
The new version includes a new image scraping filter that should handle previously failed thumbnail scraping media (WTV files, MKV with ordered chapters, possibly others).

Blight, used to be an avid user of zoomplayer ,but currently use Kodi because of the "eye candy" associated with it..Will Zoomplayer ever get a :frontend: type look like kodi and a few of the others? Or will you primarily stay with thumbnails for a "library" approach? If Zoomplayer could do fanart, etc there probably would be no rivals..If i'm wrong on anything please correct me!! I really would love to go back to full time use of Zoomplayer, but to use it an appliance type media player at each tv I would need the eye candy side of things..

It depends on your definition of eye-candy.
Right now you can configure each media category to use a different thumbnail layout.

And the plan for v12 is to connect to the movie database to automatically scrape it for movie posts and meta-data.
And to add an API so anyone can write a scraper of their own and ZP will show the meta-data.

If there's other type of eye candy you feel is missing, let me know.

I guess Blight I would be interested if you have plans in the future to implement fanart instead of thumbnails..Something along this order..if this is now possible please let me know so I can get to figuring out how to do it.

Zoom Player's new thumbnail view supports any thumbnail size and aspect ratio on a per-category (a combined list of folders containing media), including presets for Movie Poser (1:1.5) standard video (16:9) and several picture formats (3:2, 4:3, etc).

Currently, you can set custom thumbnail for each media file or folder by manually creating a file with the same base name (e.g. 'mymovie.mkv' and 'mymovie.jpg') or 'folder.jpg' for a folder's thumb.
This process is going to be automated in v12 by downloading the images from themoviedb.org automatically based on the file name.

Announcing Zoom Player version 12.6:
In this version, we added automation support to trigger custom functionality in cases where a secondary monitor is connected/disconnected, cases where a "2 in 1" laptop's screen is detached/attached to its base or when switching between mouse and tablet modes in Windows 10.

The media library received visual enhancements such as showing the last played position in thumbnail view, switching to TV JukeBox mode without scraping parent folders, more visual customization settings and a fine-grained control over the number of threads used in scraping operations (which may affect the user interface smoothness).

Hyperion, A Patreon exclusive:
Hyperion is a new fullscreen navigation skin available exclusively to our $5 and up Patreon patrons. Hyperion is available in two layouts "Hyperion" which provides a clean and modern user interface and "Hyperion MAX" which covers most of the screen area for content display. For the sharpest visuals, Hyperion/Hyperion MAX are available in FullHD and 4K versions.

Highlights:
  • Monitor connect/disconnect custom actions.
  • 2 in 1 laptop screen detach/attach custom actions.
  • Windows 10 Tablet/Mouse mode switch custom actions.
  • Media Library enhancements.
  • Many bug fixes.
  • The complete change list since version 12.5 or if you missed a version, check out the change list archive.

I am very pleased to announce the final release of Zoom Player version 12.7.
The small version bump from v12.6 to v12.7 doesn't quite tell the whole story behind the enhancements and fixes in this point release. This release represents a massive undertaking by the entire team to optimize the code, clean up long standing usability issues, enhance the media library, simplify the process of backing-up/restoring your favorite Zoom Player settings and the introduction of initial YouTube integration.

Highlights:
* Streaming playback of YouTube links.
* Media library category thumbnail view with enhanced filtering.
* New Movies & TV Shows media library category types.
* Settings, configuration & profiles export/import to ZIP.
* Station Manager usability enhancements.
* Smart Play source filter support for URL based media streaming.
* Significant key functionality optimizations, leading to faster startup and overall operation.
* Many bug fixes.
* The complete change list since version 12.6 or if you missed a version, check out the change list archive.

The Future, Version 13:
Hopefully, we have done a great job on this version and there are no lingering bugs, paving the way for the next major release, version 13.
In this upcoming version, I plan to open up the media library with a new Plug-in API that will allow 3rd party developers to add custom content.
To demonstrate the new API capabilities, I will create an open-source plug-in integrating YouTube channels as Media Libary video categories.
Please help me make this a reality.

In version 13 we focused on introducing exciting new features and access to content designed to fit with your daily viewing experience!

Download Zoom Player 13

What's new:

* YouTube
Love YouTube? If you answered YES, you would surely love the media library's new and direct access any of your favorite YouTube channels. On top of that, Global and Country-specific YouTube Trending videos in a variety of subjects and up to date YouTube Search results on any subject are just as easily accessible.

Playing YouTube content using DirectShow in Zoom Player was possible for a while now. However, Zoom Player 13 introduces YouTube's official IFRAME web based player (optional, can be disabled in the options dialog to restore DirectShow playback with its advanced hardware decoding and post-processing capabilities).

* Music
By connecting with the very cool TheMusicDB.com, Zoom Player 13 can automatically scrape Art and Meta-Data (description, release date and more) for Albums and individual audio Tracks. Even without the use of an online database, the internal audio scraper has been enhanced to extract existing meta-data from each audio track, ensuring all available audio file information is clearly displayed.

* Subtitles
Downloading subtitles in your preferred language(s) is now a piece of cake. By integrating with the very popular OpenSubtitles.org website, Zoom Player 13 can download the correct subtitle file for your media by matching the media file's hash (unique ID) with OpenSubtitles.org's database.

* RSS
Do you like to listen to podcasts and other content distributed through RSS feeds? In version 13, you can easily integrate RSS feeds directly into the media library for easy streaming and staying up to date on all the latest in podcasting.

* Streaming
Streaming has been enhanced on every level with improved reliability, new fine-tuning customization features and user experience shortcuts to play streams quickly.

* Plugins
Many of the features discussed above are only possible due to the new plugin interfaces introduced throughout Zoom Player. This includes Media source plugins (YouTube/RSS), Subtitle download plugins (OpenSubtitles.org), Scraping plugins (TheAudioDB.com/TheMovieDB.org).

All these plugins are released as open-source with the code to be used as a sample for 3rd party developers looking to extend Zoom Player with new access to content.

* What else has changed
A lot more has changed in version 13, there were smaller features introduced, other features were enhanced, code was optimized to make Zoom Player load and run faster and bugs were squashed. To review the full change list, click here.

* The Future
There are interesting new features planned, including an enhanced JukeBox experience for music and music videos, a direct interface to SHOUTcast.com's internet radio station index, Torrent streaming and much more ...

Would you like to see these great new features become a reality sooner rather than later? please join us by supporting Zoom Player on Patreon. Download Zoom Player 13.5

Version 13.5 enhances Zoom Player's Home Theater PC look & user experience, introduces a great new selection of internet radio stations, fixes many small bugs and provides an important work-around for a performance degradation issue introduced in the Windows 10 Creators Edition (more on this below).

Enhanced fullscreen navigation experience
The new navigation style is cleaner and optimizes the available content area. In the next few weeks we will be releasing a special version of the new navigation style designed for use by the visually impaired or when viewing on a smaller screen.

SHOUTcast Radio Station index
Real-time access to the SHOUTcast.com internet radio station list directly from Zoom Player, the most popular radio stations from across the globe, easily accessible and sorted by genre.

YouTube Enhancements
With DirectShow, Zoom Player now supports playback of YouTube 1080p/1440p/4K/8K DASH streams. With the YouTube IFRAME player, you can now specify the preferred streaming quality and use an interactivity mode which enables mouse clicks to interact with YouTube's widgets and thumbnails. Non-English searches using the YouTube media library plugin now work correctly.

User eXperience Enhancements
The media library category thumbnail text is now easier to read with better background contrast, You can now instruct Zoom Player to seek to key-frames for faster (less accurate) seeking, Hot Mouse tracking and click logic on the main fullscreen navigation interface was changed to be more consistent with other interfaces.

Windows 10 Creators Edition
In Windows 10 Creators Edition, Microsoft changed large fonts anti-aliasing (reduces font blockiness) to the higher-quality ClearType Algorithm. As a result, drawing each line of text took 10 times longer and compounded in real life usage to x50-x100 slower screen updates.

As a work around, a new setting (Adv. Options / Fullscreen Navigation / Customization - Anti-Aliasing) has been introduced to control the anti-aliasing mode used when drawing navigation text. The new setting has the side-benefit of even faster screen updates on lower end PCs by disabling Anti-Aliasing entirely.

What more is new?
Zoom Player 13.5 includes many new enhancements and features, the full list is available here.

Version 13.7 final has been released!

Zoom Player 13.7 enhances the media library by expanding thumbnail layout options while making them directly accessible
through the fullscreen navigation interface, Introduces a second fullscreen navigation layout with fonts designed for the
visually impaired or smaller screens, enhances support for high DPI setting used with 4K screens and more ...

Download Now!

Media Library enhancements
Zoom Player's media library has always been dynamic. In this version the level of customization has been enhanced by
making layout configuration easily accessible without leaving the fullscreen navigation. You can change the local category's
thumbnail aspect ratio, column count, text lines per thumbnail, text line height and the spacing between thumbnails. Additionally,
global values such as the category list columns, text lines, text height and text margins can be adjusted.

A second fullscreen navigation layout is now included, providing larger font sizes to enhance readability at a distance and
on smaller screens.

A cooperation between Zoom Player and TheAudioDB.com resulted in an improved album-name identification algorithm (used for scraping Album meta-data and cover art).

Caching has been optimized and thumbnails now load much faster when switching between categories.

Featured Videos
We have created a new Featured Videos media library category where you can find great videos demonstrating quality cinematography, collaborative film making, innovative computer rendering and demanding hardware tests.
If you would like to feature your content on this channel, please contact us.

High DPI modes
With the greater availability of 4K screens, microsoft introduced enhancements to support dialog scaling on high resolution screens.
In this version, Zoom Player implements these changes and automatically scales unskinned dialogs according to the Windows DPI scaling.
A new setting has been introduced, providing a manual override of the Windows DPI setting by having Zoom Player scale the dialogs at
a user-specified value.

YouTube enhancements
YouTube subtitles are now supported when playing through DirectShow. Within the media library, the YouTube plugins have been enhanced
to present the YouTube channel's name more prominently.

More Fixes, Features & Enhancements
The above list contains just the highlights. Many more smaller fixes, features and enhancements have been built into this version.

This is a bug fix version,
A few important bugs in v13.7 had to be squashed quickly as they affected most of Europe (or any other country that used "," as their decimal symbol).

Download:
http://inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_download.shtml

Check out the full bug-squashing list here:

Code:
+ Adding chapters using the chapter editor will now instantly
show the chapter's position in the timeline (if timeline display
    is enabled).
  - Fixed a bug in countries with a comma decimal symbol where the
media library thumbnails text height and spacing got truncated.

    For example:
A thumbnail's Text Height of "1.95%" (1,95%) resulted in an actual
    text height of "1%".
  - Loading ".PLS/.XSPF" playlists where the first item in the playlist
did not play (e.g. "server down") would trigger an infinite loop
    and Zoom Player froze.
  - The inactive navigation txt-lines background was not being drawn.
  - The "I" key will again close the information dialog if it is visible.
  - The media library category sorting order and last folder position
could get reset under some conditions due to insufficient registry
    memory allocation.
  - Setting the control bar to appear with a fixed width while in
fullscreen did not show the control bar in the right position (or at
    all) on secondary monitors.
  - Setting the control bar to appear at the top or bottom of the screen
did not show the control bar in the right position (or at all) on
    secondary monitors.
  - The media library category editor did not show the currently enabled
scraping mode, thumbnail aspect ratio and thumbnail columns when
    a language pack was installed.
  - The playlist editor line-spacing did not work well with every font.
  - Slight adjustment to the media library's thumbnail text drawing to
better account for fonts with less-uniform character heights.
  - It was possible for a new components/filters notification to trigger
without new components being available. It was triggered due to
a new version of Zoom Player being available on the install center.
Since player updates has its own notification, this message is redundant.

Version 14 is ready and contains lots of cool new features! here are the highlights:

Navigation and Media Library Enhancements
The default fullscreen navigation skin has been enhanced with new/polished icons and a cleaner background image for a more modern and professional style.

TheMovieDB.org meta-data scraper plugin has been enhanced to improve the identification accuracy for Movies and TV shows.

The media library setting page includes new controls to easily switch between different audio and video rendering devices in real time.

The fullscreen navigation interfaces can now be detached from the main user interface and displayed in fullscreen on a second monitor.

The download tracking fullscreen navigation interface now shows downloads in a familiar label/folder structure instead of the flat list shown in previous versions.
Control downloading media with more functions such as "Download Priority", "Pause/Resume" and more...

With a new "Playlist" plugin, media library categories can be created by simply pointing to any playlist file.

Download & Tracking
By introducing a Download & Tracking API and greater integration with open-source download clients,
Zoom Player can automatically route specific file formats and urls to a download client and track the download process in
real time. Media files with enough downloaded pieces are highlighted as playable while the media is
still downloading (faux streaming).

A download client is a required for this feature and an open-source solution is available for download through Zoom Player 14's Install Center.

Check out this cool slideshow demonstrating the new Download & Tracking plugin.

Playback History, Privacy & Child safety
Zoom Player's playback history is a great feature that allows you to resume media playback from the last played position and a lot more (restore volume/subtitle & audio track/etc...).

For additional privacy & child safety, new playback history features have been introduced to provide greater control over how information is retained and later displayed by the play history dialogs.
The new controls provide the additional security that children will not be accidentally exposed to previously played content that is inappropriate for their age.

More Features, Enhancements & Fixes
Many more features, enhancements and fixes didn't make the short list. Make sure to check out the full list by clicking here.

Download
You can upgrade to version 14 through the Install Center or by manually downloading the installers.

Zoom Player v14.1 final has been released:

Polished
With each version, I evaluate what improvement can be made to make Zoom Player even more polished and friendly to use. In this version, the media library's TV jukebox mode now shows the episode's last play position right on the thumbnail, the native (and customizable) Windows 10 media library folders are now automatically accessible and finally, fullscreen navigation on 2K/4K screens is automatically set for high performance text anti-aliasing, fixing slow navigation introduced by a change in how Windows 10 creators edition renders high resolution text.

Optimized
The torrents download plugin and the fullscreen download navigation interface changes introduced in version 14 suffered from performance issues when tracking a large number of files (over 10,000), making the interface nearly unusable. To fix this, the entire logic was rewritten and tested to work smoothly with over 28,000 tracked files. Some of these optimizations also made their way into other media library plugins such as YouTube, RSS & Playlist.

Enhanced
This version includes a larger default window size, the ability to abort 'play all files in folder' type functions mid-action, enhanced support for ".m3u8" playlists, more visualization options, a notification when closing Zoom Player takes a bit longer, smoother transition between fullscreen and windowed mode for the media library and many small bugs were squashed.

Zoom Player v14.2 final has been released:

Highlights:
  • New "Favorites" fullscreen navigation interface.
  • New Direct3D 11 hardware accelerated decoding path.
  • Play History enhancements.
  • Optimizations.
  • Bug fixes.

What's new in Zoom Player v14.2:

* New "Favorites" fullscreen navigation interface.
Any media can be added to the favorites list through the media library or
file browsing navigational interfaces.

Please note that this change required resetting the "Navigation
interfaces on main navigator" feature to it's default value
(Adv. Options / Interface / Fullscreen Navigation).

* When using the "Open URL" function, a new "Clear playlist" checkbox is now
available (previously the playlist was always cleared).

* With LAV Filters v0.71, a D3D11 hardware decoding mode has been added.
You can instruct LAV to use this mode automatically by setting the option
under "Adv. Options / Playback / Video".

+ The "Play History database may be corrupted" message will no longer
appear unless the play history file is actually corrupted.

+ You can now set the "Retain Media Playback History for" value to
99999 days (~2738 years), up from the original 9999 days (~27 years),
just in case one of you finds immortality and wished to use
Zoom Player forever.

+ The torrents plugin should now shutdown a little faster if Zoom Player
closes while the plugin was fetching an updated file list.

- Fixed a bug that prevented the previously active audio track from being
restored when re-playing a video with multiple audio tracks.

- Opening a playlist from navigation interfaces loaded the playlist
but did not automatically start playing it.

- The fullscreen navigation's text Anti-Aliasing setting was being
reset after restarting the player.

Zoom Player v14.3 final has been released

Zoom Player v14.3 final has been released:

Highlights:
  • Enhanced SHOUTcast station browsing.
  • Enhanced stream selection.
  • UI/UX enhancements
  • Bug fixes.

What's new in Zoom Player v14.3:

* You can now perform sorting (by Listeners, Name, BitRate & Format)
in the SHOUTcast station browser dialog.

+ When the up/down arrow keys are assigned to next/previous chapter
or track, the up/down keys were not set logically, now pressing
down will go to the next track/chapter and pressing up will
go to the previous track/chapter.

+ Opening a YouTube channel with no internet connection now shows
a refresh option instead of a message that the category is empty.

+ Using the 'Open subtitle file' to add a subtitle to the currently
playing media now initializes the file selection dialog to open in
the playing media's folder.

+ The stream selection fullscreen navigation interface will no longer
automatically close when switching between tracks.

+ You can now open the stream selection fullscreen navigation interface
even if no media is currently playing.

- Due to a language file that was not updated in version 14.2,
the titles on navigation interfaces showed the wrong title.

- Pressing the "Load More" button in media library categories with
a plugin capable of showing multiple pages (e.g. YouTube) would
cause the "refresh" option to disappear if there were no more
media to list.

- The RSS feed media library plugin was not showing the correct
publishing dates for some RSS feed (e.g. YouTube RSS).

- Trying to load a playlist through the Open URL (Shift+"U")
dialog failed with an error message.

- The media library playlist plugin did not function properly
under some conditions, reporting an empty category.

- The media library playlist plugin did not use a clean category
name when a playlist URL was used instead of an actual file.

Version 14.4 beta 1 has been released.

Version 14.4 beta 1 has been released.

Download:
http://inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_beta.shtml

Changes in this beta:

* New feature!

+ Changed feature!

- Fixed feature!

+ Two Sonique visualization resolution settings have changed from an
aspect ratio of 4:3 to 16:9 :
320x240 -> 320x180
640x480 -> 640x360

This change may not be reflected in the drop-down list if you are
not using an updated language pack, but this is just cosmetic, the
new resolutions are set according to the numbers above.

+ Enhanced the SHOUTcast station sorting.

+ The number of RSS entries cached by the media library plugin has been
raised from 2000 to 5000.

- Enabling the "Share Play History at a custom path" setting and not
specifying a trailing "" in the folder name would cause the play
history to be saved incorrectly.

- The media library playlist plugin now supports playlist URLs longer than
255 characters long.

- Playing an audio file with visualization could cause the right click menu
to show multiple "close navigator" entries when right-clicking on a
fullscreen navigation interface.

- The SHOUTcast station browser would show duplicate entries after opening
the dialog multiple times on different days.

- Opening a streaming URL from clipboard (Alt+Ctrl+"U") failed to work if
the URL was a playlist.

- Pressing the "Play (add to playlist)" button while a navigation interface
was visible and the "Stop closes the navigation interfaces" setting was
enabled prevented playback of the station from starting.

Version 14.4 beta 2 has been released

Version 14.4 beta 2 has been released.

Download:
http://inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_beta.shtml

Changes in this beta:

* New feature!

+ Changed feature!

- Fixed feature!

* New "Run Application" media library plugin that lets you run applications
and scripts directly from a media library category thumbnail.

* New Setting (Adv. Options / Interface), Station manager should stay on
top of other application when switching to fullscreen mode.

* New Setting (Adv. Options / Playback), Load .URL files as streaming media
(otherwise load as web page).

+ Media library meta-data scraping had issues with long file paths and
URLs (over 200 characaters, depending on Zoom Player's installation
path) due to an early design decision to make the cached entries easy
to identify using their file names and URL addresses.

However, to this day, windows does not support paths longer than 255
characters correctly. As a work-around, if a long file name or url is
processed, the cache mechanism now uses a short hash instead
of the full file name or url.

+ Enhanced support for RSS feed thumbnails. More thumbnails should show
up when adding RSS feeds as media library categories (including more
category thumbnail for feeds that support them).

+ If an RSS Feed has multiple entries with the same publish date, the
entries will now be second-level sorted by URL.

+ When download playlists Zoom Player now uses the windows temp folder
instead of the 'my documents'.

- A race condition caused the scrape manager thread to not signal it is
terminating correctly, causing Zoom Player to freeze on exit.

- RSS feeds containing a special unicode line-break character in the
description would trigger a freeze when opening the RSS media library
category a second time.

- The "Continue to the next Playlist item when an invalid file is played"
setting would skip tracks if the unplayable media was the last playlist
entry.

- Opening a playlist from the file-open dialog would not always preserve
the active playlist entry as specified in the playlist file.

- Some unicode characters did not show up correctly in the playlist editor
and music OSD if the selected font did not support the characters.
Now a different windows text-rendering function is used, one that takes
unsupported character from a system-default font.

- When including an executable entry in the playlist, playback did not
progress to the next track correctly and would cause the wrong title
to appear in the playlist editor.

Zoom Player v14.4 final has been released

Zoom Player v14.4 final has been released:

Highlights:
  • Support for the new AV1 codec.
  • Media Library enhancements.
  • Station manager enhancements.
  • Important bug fixes.

What's new in Zoom Player v14.4:

* Initial support for the AV1 video compression format:

AOMedia Video 1 (AV1), is an open, royalty-free video coding format
designed for video transmissions over the Internet. It is being
developed by the Alliance for Open Media (AOMedia), a consortium
of firms from the semiconductor industry, video on demand providers,
and web browser developers, founded in 2015.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AV1

The AV1 codec should eventually provide a 20% superior image
quality/bitrate compared to HEVC (H.265).

* New (Adv. Options / Playback) "On play complete" option to execute an
application or script as soon as the playlist completes playing.

+ Media library meta-data scraping had issues with long file paths and
URLs (over 200 characaters, depending on Zoom Player's installation
path) due to an early design decision to make the cached entries easy

+ Enhanced the SHOUTcast station sorting.

+ When downloading playlists, Zoom Player now uses the windows temp
folder instead of the 'my documents'.

+ When playing archive files (zip/rar), the archive is now extracted to
the windows temp folder instead of 'my documents'.

+ Meta-data returned when playing streaming audio is now trimmed to remove
superfluous spaces before/after the returned text.

- A race condition caused the scrape manager thread not to signal it is
terminating correctly, causing Zoom Player to freeze on exit.

- The media library playlist plugin now supports playlist URLs longer than
255 characters long.

- RSS feeds containing a special unicode line-break character in the

cause the previously playing title to overwrite the new track's title
in the playlist editor.

- Parsing ".CUE" files failed when the an entry contained the word "TRACK"
in either the performer or title tags.

Version 14.5 beta 1 has been released.

Version 14.5 beta 1 has been released.

Download:
http://inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_beta.shtml

Changes in this beta:

* New feature!

+ Changed feature!

- Fixed feature!

* New Setting (Adv. Options / Playback / Controls):
"Next / Previous Track" plays the next/prev media in the same folder if
playlist contains 1 file.

This function behind this setting was previously always enabled.
This setting remains enabled by default, but from now you can disable
this behavior from the advanced options dialog.

* New Setting (Adv. Options / Fullscreen Navigation) to force the
navigation list or thumb view to maximum width.

Unlike the "full width" setting, this setting will make the navigation
list area take the display device's maximum resolution, which can cause
some cosmetic issues (like the thumbnail highlight getting cropped).

+ Zoom Player now does a better job at extracting album art images from
media files if the JPEG image contains junk in front of the actual image.

+ The Command & Control API now notifies when subtitles are enabled/
disabled when using the "fnToggleSub" and "fnDisableDVDsub" functions.

- Kinetic scrolling in the media library did not work well using a mouse
cursor, stopping when attempting to scroll multiple times while the
kinetic movement was still in mid process.

- Playing media that contained certain special characters in the media's
title caused multiple unplayable entries to appear in the play history.

- With the "Adv. Options / Interface / Position & Size - Auto-Size User
Interface to maintain Video Aspect Ratio (when resizing)" setting enabled,
playing audio files with folder/album art could cause Zoom Player's main
window to display partially off-screen.

- The latest version of mediainfo DLL changed how it extracts cover art
for audio files, breaking Zoom Player support for displaying the album
art with some audio formats (mainly M4A).

- Better album art image extraction from audio files with ID3v2 TAGs when
the image header included some junk data.

- When opening a media file by double-clicking from explorer (or other
file managers), the currently playing track wouldn't highlight correctly
and show the playing position in the playlist editor.

Version 14.5 beta 2 has been released.

Version 14.5 beta 2 has been released.

Download:
http://inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_beta.shtml

Changes in this beta:

* New feature!

+ Changed feature!

- Fixed feature!

* The playlist editor (when using the default Onyx skin or the bundled
Alba skin) now draws alternating line highlights making the playlist
easier to track visually.

* The playlist editor's right-click menu now features Colorize actions
that let you easily color-code track(s) text and background colors.
The color information is automatically saved and restored when using
Zoom Player's default ZPL format playlists.

* New "PlayListData/Background2" skin script parameter that specifies
the alternating playlist editor line highlight color.

* New Setting (Adv. Options / Playback) that automatically tries to use
the YouTube IFRAME player if DirectShow playback of a YouTube stream
fails.

* The advanced playlist control (accessible through the playlist editor
or by pressing "J") now show the number of items remaining in the
playlist as the search filters down the list.

+ The advanced playlist control's filter search was searching the
entire playlist on each letter pressed, this caused a sluggish
user experience when dealing with very larger playlists (over
30,000 entries).

To enhance the user experience, the search action is now only
performed 350-400ms after the last key-stroke, ensuring that
the user interface does not stall while typing.

- Using the "Stop" function while a media was loading combined with
a non-default setting that closes the playing media when using the
"Stop" function and when display a JPEG/PNG image could cause the
image to remain on screen.

- Double-clicking an entry on the skin selection dialog could sometimes
trigger an access violation error.

- When opening the playlist editor, under some conditions the bottom
entries would not show up until the playlist screen was refreshed
by a click or scroll.

- The "&" character wasn't showing up in the playlist editor.

- Pressing under the last item in the playlist editor did not
visually select the last item in the list. Then if you pressed
the "Enter" key, it would start playing the last item in the
playlist which was a bit confusing without the visual cue of
a selected entry.

- Fixed a crash when trying to play a video file with too many
external audio tracks. External audio tracks are now limited
to a maxiumum of 10 tracks.

Version 14.5 beta 3 has been released.

Download:
http://inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_beta.shtml

Changes in this beta:

* New feature!

+ Changed feature!

- Fixed feature!

* TheMovieDB.org media library scraping plugin has been enhanced and can
now return non-english meta-data (texts and images).

+ The Install Center now includes two configuration profiles for the
3DYD YouTube Source filter that enable HD/4K streaming.

+ Visualization are now enabled when the 3DYD YouTube Source filter is set
to "audio only" output.

- TheAudioDB.com scraper plugin is now functional after the API used by
the site moved to encrypted communication (https), breaking backward
compatibility.

- If a media title contained a 'line feed' or 'return' characters, it would
corrupt the play history.

- Fixed a possible TheMovieDB.org scraper freeze (could have caused
slow-downs on exit or more rarely, a player freeze) when used in
combination with the "Scrape using media derived title (instead
of file name)" category setting.

- When the "Scrape using media derived title (instead of file name)" category
setting was enabled, under some conditions, the media's thumbnail would not
display after closing and reopening the media library.

Version 14.5 beta 5 has been released.

Version 14.5 beta 5 has been released.

Download:
http://inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_beta.shtml

Changes in this beta:

* New feature!

+ Changed feature!

- Fixed feature!

* New "Thumb rendering threads" setting (Adv. Options / Interface /
Fullscreen Navigation / Thumb View) to specify the number of CPU threads
used to render the thumbview display.

Previously, this setting was hard-coded to use 2 threads, but now you
can specify any value from "Auto" to "16".

Auto mode uses either 2 or 3 threads depending on your PC, but
performance can be improved further with additional threads on systems
containing many cores or high bandwidth RAM.

* New "Support folders as playlist entries" Setting (Adv. Options /
Interface / Playlist). This setting was previously hardcoded and
is still enabled by default to support advanced playlist functionality.

However, supporting folders as playlist entries triggers a spun-down HDD
drive to spin back up when a playlist is loaded. With this new setting
disabled, you can now prevent drives from accidentally spinning up.

* New Setting (Adv. Options / Playback / Controls) to mute the audio when
enabling Slow Motion or Fast Play.

* New "fnToggleOverlayCover" function to toggle the "Video covers entire
display area" setting on and off.

+ Optimized the Media Library's thumbnail drawing code, increasing update
speed and smoothness.

+ The Maximum number of scraping threads used by the media library has
increased from 8 to 16.

+ When a media library scraped movie did not contain a backdrop image,
the default background image is now used instead of a black screen.

+ Updated the PNG and zLib libraries to newer versions.

- Starting Zoom Player with the "Do not check if a file exists when adding
to the playlist" setting enabled no longer triggers spun-down HDD drives
to spin-up.

- The GuardDog feature would try to restart Zoom Player if Zoom Player's
load time was taking too long (due to HDD drive spin-ups or a network
drive reconnection).

- The Media Library's Jukebox mode would not enable if the only file in
the folder was a playlist.

- Fixed a case where a media library scraped movie not containing a
backdrop image showed a backdrop from another movie.

Changes in this beta:

* New feature!

* Extended video streaming support for the following web sites:

Facebook (facebook.com)
Vimeo (vimeo.com)
Dailymotion (dailymotion.com)
VK (vk.com)
LiveLeak (liveleak.com)
Break.com (break.com)
Veoh (veoh.com)
eBaum's World (ebaumsworld.com)
VKMag.com (vkmag.com)

GodTube (godtube.com)
StreetFire.net (streetfire.net)
Daily HaHa (dailyhaha.com)
TCMag.com (tcmag.com)
Bofunk (bofunk.com)

Some sites (e.g. facebook) may require you to enable the extended analysis
mode for the 3DYD filter through the Zoom Player Install Center.

* Automatic fullscreen navigation skin switching based on the display's
aspect ratio.

For example, by specifying a 16:10 and selected a Zoom Player navigation
skin designed for 16:10 displays.
(e.g. https://www.inmatrix.com/zplayer/nav/default1610.shtml)

Note:
Skin switching is currently only triggered when opening a navigation
interface.

* New "Refresh" option (Media Library Category Editor / Configure Category)
for YouTube channels and RSS Streams that refreshes the channel's Name &
Thumbnail.

+ Entering a media library TV JukeBox folder that contains no media files
will no longer switch to thumbnail view for the empty folder, instead
remaining in file list mode.

- When viewing the media library's TV/Movie in JukeBox mode, the backdrop
images was not scaled and cropped properly on non-16:9 displays
(e.g. 1920x1200 monitor) leaving black bars instead of filling with
the backdrop.

- Zoom Player will no longer try running MediaInfo.dll when playing a URL,
removing the 'unknown error' message from the play information dialogs.

- Using the "^" character in a file name to cause the media library
scraper to ignore any text after this character did not work in
some cases.

- The "Mute audio during forward and backward seeks" setting was muting
audio when attempting to seek forward/backward in a live stream even
in cases seeking was not possible.

Hey @Blight , I love zoom player and have it integrated as my player for Kodi and madVR.

Would you ever consider enhancing the functionality of /func:fnVidUp command line a little bit to allow for a specific pixel movement such as /func:UpXXX where XXX is the number of pixels to move the picture up?

My use case is that I detect movie aspect ratios prior to launching zoom player and then move the video to the top of the screen. But there are multiple aspect ratios such as 2:1, 2.2:1, 2.4:1. My current workaround here was to go into options-->interface-->Position and size and set the keyboard move to 45 pixels then pass /fn:VidUp 3 times for a 2.4:1 movie. But then when I switch to 4K resolution, that had to be changed. Also, if DPI scaling is changed without a reboot, those values are no longer valid. Anyways, it currently works ok now but it would be great if someday we could just pass in via cmd line an exact position.

Video: JVC RS4500 135" screen in pure black room no light, htpc nvidia 1080ti.
Audio: Anthem mrx720 running 7.1.4, McIntosh MC-303, MC-152, B&W 802d3 LR, B&W HTM1D3 center, B&W 805d3 surround, B&W 702S2 rear, B&W 706s2 x 4 shelf mounted for atmos, 2 sub arrays both infinite baffle: 4x15 fi audio running on behringer ep4000 + 4x12 fi audio running on 2nd ep4000.

I'll add two extended functions, here is the changelog :

Code:
  * New "exVidMoveHorz" and "exVidMoveVert" extended functions that move
the video area (fullscreen) or player window (when not in fullscreen)
    horizontally and vertically.

    Command line usage example:
    zplayer.exe /exfunc:exvidmovehorz,-200 /exfunc:exvidmovevert,-100

You can either wait for the next beta/final release or download only the EXE (which requires v14.5 b6 installed):
