Looking for advice/ideas on EDID override problem

I'm really struggling to get the EDID override to apply and would appreciate any suggestions on how to troubleshoot more as I'm just about to give up

My set up:

HTPC with AMD Radeon HD 8470D --> HDMI --> Sony Bravia KDL-EX723

The Sony TV then outputs optical to a wee converter box that converts it to digital in for my Philips LX8300 surround sound system though the problem is between the PC and TV (I know the Sony TV should be able to pass through AC3/DTS and my surround sound should handle it, but the problem is Windows won't output anything but stereo to the HDTV).

Using moninfo and Deltacast E-EDID Editor I've taken the EDID my Sony reports, then opened it in deltacast and added surround sound capabilities. I even removed PCM 2-Channel so that it shouldn't even be an option but Windows will only ever let me configure for 2 channels.

Here's the latest EDID Override inf file I've been trying:

It seems to install fine. The only thing that makes me wonder if it's even applying at all is that when looking at moninfo the "registry active" section doesn't show as much info (and doesn't mention all the audio settings).

This is driving me crazy. I know I can buy a receiver or whatever but I really want a set up where I don't need to switch the receiver audio input every time I change the TV channel (to HTPC or PS4 etc).

Anything troubleshooting suggestions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated, thanks
