That build does not allow targets lower than 100 nits.
The beta builds do. The latest that is usable for viewing is v.95:

On my JVC NX9, I get 72 nits with DCI-P3 filter in place and 91 nits without it (HDR color still though).

Is 72 nits still considered worth it for tonemapping HDR?

There are users with lower nits than that, that are using HDR tone mapping.
The higher nits value might satisfy more people, but it's up to user preference. Higher brightness and a smaller color gamut, or lower brightness and a larger color gamut.

Ok, I think I'll use the 72 nit one, since that's with filter so I get almost 100% of DCI-P3 coverage.

I was using NVIDIA 418.91 driver, and tried a few times to upgrade to newest versions with no success, stuttering was always present.
Due to some positive feedback on the latest driver (436.48), i decided to try it, and so far there has been no stuttering.

I'm also applying this NVIDIA driver slimming utility, as the regular NVIDIA distribution has so much garbage in it.
Moreover, i'm also applying this NVIDIA Profle Inspector tool with an optimized profile for MPC-HC/BE.

LAV Video

- NEW: Initial support for parsing HDR10+ (SMPTE ST 2094-40) metadata, and passing it to the video renderer
Latest Lav filter. Does that mean that it is up to MadVR to show HDR Plus or what does it exactly mean?

I upgraded to v95. Is there a list of setting values currently deemed best that I should be adjusting to?

Sorry for the OFFTOPIC,, it is not related the MadVR!!!

Is there a recommended list of best settings based around all the testing on them and feedback?

No, not really. Posts like these are the best you can do in the meantime:

https://www.avsforum.com/forum/24-di...l#post58702226

There aren't that many testers and only a couple tend to share their settings.

Look through that thread for the various setting samples but it will vary a lot due to different displays, screen size, etc. Take one, test it, adjust if needed.

Did you check the guides linked in the first post? The GPU brand doesn't matter as much as it's relative processing power.

Is it better to run Luma doubling at very high and Luma quadtripling at very high rather than high for both? I don't get any dropped frames switching to very high.

Yes, very high is better than high by a small margin. The first doubling step is more important than the second, though.

I've found recently after leaving Kodi on for a while that when I go play a file it doesn't start the audio stream. Only after a full reboot can I get it to work.
It seems like it started happening since I upgraded to latest madvr beta.

You should close and open Kodi again whenever you intend to use it. I use an AutoHotKey script to accomplish this by remote.

Are you putting the PC to sleep? This can also cause a loss of audio from the HDMI handshake that occurs when you wake the computer.

Try passthrough HDR to display.

If you are using v91+ of the current madVR beta builds, then tone map HDR using pixel shaders with output video in HDR format checked can bring some highlight detail back into the brightest highlights and is worth checking. Your display would only benefit with titles that are mastered very bright due to its high peak brightness.

To try pixel shaders, enter your estimated peak brightness and set highlight recovery strength to high, very high or are you nuts. You also have to uncheck some of the trade quality for performance checkboxes.

If you are using a build before that, including the latest official build, tone map HDR using pixel shaders with output video in HDR format checked is not working correctly and will cause some clipping of the highlights. A bug fix has been issued just recently.

Really? I like the idea of just leaving it open so that I never need to see windows. In the past with something like wmc this would always cause hdmi issues, or the window wouldn’t be full screen. But so far so good.

Is there any player that is MadVR compatible but also shows the Menu of BDMV Rips?

I use MPC-HC but then only rip the main movie file to MKV, but for some movies I would like to get access to directors commentary etc

I can if I put my ear close to the computer case. I purchased the card not long ago. EVGA agreed to RMA the original card but the replacement was actually worse. At this point the only thing that I havent tried is a power conditioner but it helping seems unlikely.

There is no fix for coil whine from the processor. I had a cheaper 2060 and it would have a lot of white, I moved to an EVGA 2070 (which had lower whine to begin with) and then since I use MaDVR for only DTM I was able to lower the clock on the 2070 so it’s not running at full capacity with the card is engaged. This lead to lower coil noise.

Finally I simply moved my HTPC away from my listening position that fixed the problem for good :-)

In my case the sound is actually audible through all of my speakers. The sound from the card itself is tolerable.

Thanks
