SATA Controller Card

It is time to add a sata controller card or 2 to my server running an ASROCK Z97 Extereme4 motherboard and i7 CPU. I am looking for suggestions on which one to buy. I don't want to be limited on size or speed of the hard drives and don't want to spend an arm and a leg either. I will need 2 as time goes by. I am looking at the one below but not sure what else is out there and if this one is what I need? Any thoughts you may have would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for your help

Here's a good list of SATA controller cards, but it may be slightly outdated:

I have three Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 cards flashed with the 0.21 firmware in my unRAID server and they work fine with large drives. I don't currently have anything larger than a 4TB drive, but I believe it will support larger ones. You can check with the unRAID forums for more details. These are older cards that can be picked up for a reasonable cost on ebay. I bought several of them that were working pulls from other PCs or servers for about $25 each, IIRC. They may have been a bit more, but I bought them a while ago.

IBM M1015 or Dell H200 flashed to IT firmware which you can find guides for online. They can be found on ebay for $100 or less.

I don't know if they're any better but they are cheaper. The H200 is going for $54 on ebay, two of them for the price of one Supermicro card. I own the IBM m1015 and haven't had any problems as do many others.

I have used that card in my server for close to two years now and I have had zero issues with it.

Mr Zoid

A GF that bought me a PS3 and a HD-A2? I'm a lucky man!
