Best way to play music on Shield?

For the most part when I want to play music on the Shield I use Spotify, but I do have some local music and music videos that I like to play. I am unimpressed with anything I have found and mostly use Plex and that is not even that great. Thoughts/Ideas?

I also use Plex to play music via my Shield and have no issues. I have a library of FLAC files and Plex catalogues them and plays them wonderfully. What is it you feel you are missing with using Plex?

I to have not been impressed by any of the apps on the Shield for music. imo apps designed mostly for video like emby, plex and kodi are not the greatest for music.

I have been using this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...gtree.mo4media

It's still in its early phase but it connects to my Jriver library so I use it for now.

I'm not a big music guy but I prefer Plex over Kodi as it does a much better job of recognizing/importing my music. For a while now Kodi hasn't found a large percentage of my albums where Plex nails everyone of them. Now I'm using the default scrapers and have zero interest in tweaking the process. My needs are so simple I'm now using an Amazon Dot to play the files stored on the Plex Media Server/ODROID NAS.

By this you mean you are telling the Dot to play Plex on another device, they don't have it working so that the Dot can play from the Plex library yet, right?

No, I have a 3rd generation Dot which plays music on its internal speaker... Alexa "Play Bob Seger on ODROID"... now I have my drives spin down (after x minutes) so I might have to repeat the command after a few seconds.

When I had an older Dot I tried to set it up and punted as I think you needed to access the Internet (Plex's servers) which seemed stupid to me. This time it took just a couple of minutes and I was up and running.
