Geforce GTX 1050TI 4GB not giving UHD on HTPC

I have following specs on my Dell T5500.

CPU: Intel Xeon E5606 2.13Ghz
GPU: Geforce GTX 1050TI 4GB
RAM: 12 gb
PSU: Dell 875W
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64x

Connected to Denon AVR X-2300W (Dolby Atmos 4K enabled AV receiver) via HDMI Premium Cable - from Denon Product Info document: 4K/60 Hz full-rate pass-through, 4:4:4 color resolution, HDR and BT.2020

This AV Receive is then connected to Panasonic LED TV TX-58DX802B (4k UHD HDR display) using HDMI Premium Cable.

My problem is that I can not get 4K from this system. not even 4K @ 30Hz.

I have tried an android TV box to check HDMI Cables they were all giving 4k @ 60Hz directly on TV as well as via AVR.

If there is no option for 3840 x 2160 in the GPU control panel, I would consult the manual for the AVR to see if there is some conflict with RGB color spaces sent from the PC, or I would reinstall the video drivers.

First run DDU: https://www.wagnardsoft.com/content/ddu-guide-tutorial

actually even after connecting the PC directly to TV the max resolution i can get is 1080P @ 60Hz, also done DDU multiple times with multiple different driver versions.

Would CPU be causing this issue? Xeons are very powerful but they are old too.

The CPU has nothing to do with it. I use a Xeon fwiw. What you're saying is basically impossible. Either your panel has an adjustment wrong or you're leaving something out of the equation you haven't told us. A 1050Ti is going to automatically output 4k out of the box without touching any adjustment which you will want to do at some point after you send and output 4k to begin with. Install nVidia driver version 385.28 and post a picture of the nVidia Control Panel resolution setting that does not show 4k x 2k, 3840 x 2160 (native) selection.

HOW TO - Kodi 2D - 3D - UHD (4k) HDR Guide Internal & External Players

that is exactly what i thought that 1050TI supposed to give out of box 4K resolution. Right now i have graphic drive Version: 419.67. I will try and send some pictures of NVCP this evening.

one more thing is when i go to device manager i see Generic PnP monitor instead of panasonic display. But in NVCP it shows Panasonic Display.

so here are couple of pics, one showing the system info (driver version:388.13) & another one showing the resolution available. you can also see that Panasonic TV is identified in NVCP and i checked under audio as well and it shows the same Panasonic TV. SO i think the driver installed correctly.

i have even tried playing with colour setting under the resolution section but nothing happened.

the third picture shows windows system info.

if it has nothing to do with CPU then the only thing i can think of is HDMI Cables? but i checked them with my android box and the box gives 2160p @ 60Hz

Your TV is not accepting 4k output from your video card or it would be listed as a resolution choice. Right click the desktop and select Display settings. Then Advanced display settings, bottom right. Then Display adapter properties at the bottom. Then the List all modes button at the bottom. Is 3840 by 2160 listed for any of the Hz ranges? If so and not highlighted, select 2160 60Hz and see if NCP shows the 4k output selection instead of a max at 1080p.

Does your PC bios have a setting to disable Intel graphics (which I don't think you have because it's a Xeon but worth a check) and to select your external graphic card instead? If so, make sure it's set correctly.

Try the old faithful 385.28 as suggested earlier.

Not being familiar with your Viero, and highly doubtful if there is such a setting but worth a check, make sure you didn't tell your TV to run at 1080p instead of 2160p or if it's defaulted at that and needs changing. Never mind what android box confirms.

Try ANY HDMI cable 6' or shorter direct into your TV. Never mind what the android box confirms. Use the same HDMI port android works on. Make sure HDR is turned on in TV settings for that port and any other port you feed 4k.

Is there an outside chance your 1050Ti is a knockoff? What brand is it? Is it new or might you have bought it used from a miner that possibly edited the firmware?

so checked the advanced display setting and under list all max resolution is 1080p.

i dont know in bios how can i change graphics option but checked on device manager. there isnt any onboard display adopter so i assume the GPU is recognised.

The only thing i can now check is the cable and also the driver.

There are a lot of video cards out there originally designed specifically for crypto currency use only. These cards are crippled so that they can't be used for many other common things. It seems like your card can't use for 4k at all.

kedar,

Isn't the manufacturer's name (or logo) on the fan or the edge of the card ?

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/
offers the utility "GPU-Z [which] is free ... for personal ... usage."

It can report the "subvendor" (manufacturer) and BIOS version of the graphics card.

eBay buyer's protection should work for you. That was really an old GPU.

Ouch, looks like you got a 550ti, instead of 1050ti. Not sure how they are spoofing the 4gb of ram, that sucks.

eBay sides with buyers more than with sellers. Worth a try.

right guys just an update,

bought GTX 1060 6gb and downloaded NVidia GeForce driver 411.70. also installed HEVC video codec for Windows 10 pro. I can now watch Netflix 4k with current low spec CPU. i think the idea is to have 1050 or higher GPU with minimum 3gb ram.

I am now struggling to connect my 1080p Projector so i am now going to start a new thread for it.
