Will my old gaming pc work for Atmos 4k HDR? Here are the specs

So I ordered everything to upgrade my old HT system to Atmos 7.2.4 Pioneer elite VSX-LX503 9.2 plus Dayton stereo amp for the 2 extra channels not amplified extra polk sattelites and 1 subwoofer and just salvaged some of my old speakers from the 7.1 setup.

Here are the specs for my PC. I have an old Nvdia Shield Pro 2017 500gb as well btw. Don't know if that will work.

CPU I7 6700k
Ram 32gb
Video card Geforce GTX 980TI

Audio is no problem as you bitstream over HDMI. H.265/hevc is where you may run into issue as the 980ti doesn't do hardware decoding of H.265. Doesn't mean it won't work as the CPU should be able to handle it. An Nvidia 10/16/20 series cards all do hardware decoding of H.265. The GTX1060 is one of the lowest recommended to run MadVR. I am running a 1050ti with no issues but I have no HDR displays to deal with only 4K/SDR

"Smart enough to know better, to old to care" ------ Dedicated Bat Cave Home Theater, JVC RS49U/Mitsubishi HC7900DW Projector, 110" 16:9 Jamestown screen with variable power masking for CIW 2.50:1 to 16:9, Marantz 7009 with 7.1.4 Atmos with Ohm mains,3 DIY Subs (2 15" (1 ported, 1 sealed and a 12" 4th order bandpass), 1 DIY butt kicker, Custom Built HTPC, 18TB DroboFS NAS

Damn so that's why the 4k atmos high bit rate videos I downloaded are lagging and have many dropped frames with MadVR...... I was planning to wait for the ampere cards to come out before I buy so the prices would would drop on the RTX cards or just get one of the entry level amperes depending on benchmarks.... Will the Nvdia shield be able to handle playing those files till ampere comes out?

I already checked craigs list.... the average prices for the 1080 ti and 2070 super are 500usd and above.... Buying anything lower than those 2 models right now would be a step down in terms of PC gaming coming from a 980ti not unless I buy something lower end and build a new frankenstein pc from all used parts just for a home theater rig.... but that would be redundant when ampere comes out and I get buyers remorse.... Would the shield be able to at least play ripped 4k high bit rate torrent files till then? Because when I do buy a new video card it should be an upgrade for gaming as well as home theater use....
