I may be a massochist but I'm starting a new HTPC frontend project

Hi,

My goals aren't all that big. I'm not trying to dethrone Kodi, Plex or Emby. In fact my objective is to get something similar to the old Media Browser 2.x interface that I used to have in my WMC days.
I loved that MB2 let me organized my media as I pleased without strictly relying on metadata. For example my movies were classified into genre folders. Each genre folders having it's own posters and backdrop. Same for the TV series.

I yearn for a simpler HTPC era :-)

Also I'm investing time learning Python and Javascript and I like to build something worthwhile when I learn a new language. You learn and retain knowledge better by doing this.

Kodi is great! Don't get me wrong, but I don't need all those bells and whistle. I don't need all those plugins, don't need the weather either. All I need is a nice clean & simple interface to my media, my way, and a launcher for the desired players I want to use depending on the media type.

You talk about media, so are you also building a music player and an image viewer?
