Audio through Motherboard HDMI and picture through GPU HDMI - is it possible?

I have to do with a temporary solution when I upgrade my HTPC, at least until I can afford a new receiver, since my Onkyo 809 neither have eARC or 4K. Can I send lossless audio from the motherboard's HDMI to the receiver and picture to the TV from the GPU's HDMI (the GPU I will buy has only one HDMI) to the TV? Will there be any audio-sync issues with picture?

Yes, should work fine. I've done this using motherboard hdmi out as well as a secondary hdmi from the gpu, both work fine.

You'll have a display showing in windows for your receiver, which you could either leave as secondary screen or if you have a monitor in 1080p hooked up, use duplicate screens for it. No way to disable the receiver display in windows while also retaining the sound output unfortunately.

Yep I've been doing this for years. Only small hitch I ran into recently was here: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/26-ho...detection.html

But works fine otherwise.

There may, however, be audio sync issues, you will need to adjust this either in your pb software or on your AVR.

If you have an Nvidia card, I would just connect both on the same GPU. However if you have AMD, this method is better because AMD GPUs use too much power when they are in multi-monitor desktop mode, even when idle.
