4K external drive???

Ever since I moved my movie collection to a NAS, I've been using a LG external BD drive and it's served me well. LG now makes a 4K external. I'm curious what others are using. I have not looked but would not be against a internal if one exists. I think the latest versions of Make MKV now support 4K

Current owner of the last/best AmPro on the planet. The mighty 4600HD, and it's still running...better than Barco's, especially southern ones.

You can use either as long as it is a "UHD friendly" drive and has the correct firmware.

If you are trying to rip 4K discs you need a UHD friendly drive not a real UHD drive. Some real UHD drives can be downgraded to "friendly" status but that's really a bit pointless because you're paying a significant price premium to get an official/real UHD drive.

Depending on how new your LG external it, it may already be a friendly drive! What model is it, what fw is on it, and what is the year of manufacture?
