DIY- Budget wire chase.
Let me preface this post by saying I have been laid off two weeks now due to the GM/UAW strike. Staying busy, trying to do all the jobs at home that you never seem to get around to doing.
New carpet installed in the 32'x22' main room last week. The room is on a concrete slab. Attic and walls are not feasible. Took the opportunity to update/upgrade all of my wiring. I was able to run everything tucked under the baseboards before. Not now. Upped the speaker wire gauge, and added some Cat6 runs. No way it would fit under there now.
Previously have used the neoprene Velcro sleeves in the bedroom and office. I like it, easy to use for short, twisting runs. Doesn't look good when used for long, straight runs. I had some old 1/2 foam pipe insulation leftover in the garage. It is a perfect fit to tuck the wires inside and wrap the sleeve around. Looks much better with the sleeve "filled in" on a long run. 1 1/2" rubber clamps every 5 feet or so. Easily accessed if needed in the future.
