Blacks of the OLED, are like the sparkle of a diamond to a woman. Expensive, but like a marriage, will it last ?

I've got 2 OLED's in the house, 65" B7's and a 77" c8. Both have a lot of gaming hours, the 77 around 600-800 and the 65" well over 1500 hours of gaming from the family. The 65" is almost 100% Destiny 2. full hud, 24'7. Not a hint on either set. Now I got a 75" Q80 for my basement and I love the brightness but everything else is far behind the OLED's in PQ and ghosting.

I doubt they were designed solely for 4k content when the vast majority of people still watch 1080p and 720p. Besides HDR isn't even fully cooked yet, and a good movie being made these days is a rarity.

But I have this forum and LG to thank for the outcome in my situation.

Where and how do you send photos to LG about this crappy burn in issue?

Thank you in advance.

Benji32119...I received a case number from a LGE customer service rep. The case number gets sent to LG who contacts you to forward proof of your claim. [email protected] is the email address you end up communicating through. The key here is who you talk with and how you talk to the customer service rep. Be reasonable and ask questions like "do you think my TV should be showing these symptoms?" and 'what can we do to get this looked at?' Don't be demanding. Hope this helps.

But that logic defies our economic system, as well as manufacturer, marketing, reviewer, other claims.

OLED burn in

Just gave up on my 65E6P. Burn from logos, closed caption and now a visible dark area over the entire middle of my screen. Yellow in that area has a greenish tint. Hate to give up the 3D capability which looked great. I did have the foresight to shell out the big bucks for a 5 year warranty. Best Buy asked for a photo and immediately processed my replacement claim. Turned down another OLED and going back to Led.

Dang. Same symptoms as mine. I got a case number from LG and waiting for return call.

If when and ever they come to repair my TV, am I not supposed to watch the mourning and evening news anymore without fear? I mean I only watch news a few hours a day. I thought I was being very careful with this TV.

LG came out and swapped out my B6 panel for the 3rd time. Its way out of warranty and they don't owe me a thing but it was nice of them to do so. Panels died twice before this but the burn it was very bad, or at least bad enough they felt the need to swap the panel for me out of warranty. Moved the TV to the bedroom for light duty work now. I wont buy another OLED, too much money for burn in. Had no issues with any plasma I've owned.

With the in tv youtube app look for the burn in screen test. Bright pink looked atrocious on mine, a few other colors did too.

I have had 2 OLED tv's, 2016 model and 2018 model, neither one has ever showed any sign's of burn in, maybe I am lucky, but I love the image they produce, and would buy another one without hesitation.

For those wanting to switch away from OLED seriously look at the Samsung 2019 QN##Q70R lineup while they have great clear out prices. The new QN##Q70T 2020 series have back tracked, making the 2019's a serious consider while you can still get them.

I had a Q70 in my house for almost 90 days before returning it to Costco for my C9. I could just never get happy with the picture quality and especially motion handling.

I read that all of the 2019 QLEDs were a significant step back from their 2018 counterparts, and from what I lived with for 88 days, I believe it.

Maybe the Q80 and Q90 are a different beast than the Q70, I don't know...... No offense intended here, just a different opinion from someone that had one in their home environment.

Most of the manufacturers are moving away from LCD/LEDs to OLED.
Waiting to see how Samsung makes out with their supposedly new OLED panels that overcome all the LG short comings. Read somewhere, not so good so far.
Would be interesting to compare LED and OLED performance comparisons after 5 years of use. 10 years of use. (I know, a bit stretching since most of us don't keep our primary sets that long.)

Question: if the 70R is so bad, why did Rtngs.com rate it best LCD/LED for 2019 ? Installed the 49" 70R in the wife's bedroom and was very impressed. While waiting for the wife to pick out a new cell phone at BB, a Sony and the 70R were on display facing the service center. Wife said they were both excellent, but didn't like the Sony reflecting all the store lighting. The 70R didn't. So it's not a case here of whether the OLED is better than the LCD/LED, but for those not wanting to go OLED, I was suggesting it as an alternative. Every set has it's pluses and minuses, it's just a case of what suits your fancy. (From reading this forum, it appears OLED is a panel lottery - win some, lose some.)

Understandably, avenues have opened up for junk flooding the market. As well as some excitement for mini-LEDs, with their own set of issues.

Articles, AV threads, TV specs from 2016 onward reveal two things in correlation. Increase in OLED production. Decline of PQ for LCD/LED TVs.

This seems to suggest "a moving away from LCD/LEDs to OLED", as in purposely making LCD/LED a less-attractive competitor for OLED.

Understandably, avenues have opened up for junk flooding the market. As well as some excitement for mini-LEDs, with their own set of issues.
Not an option for Samsung when they currently have no OLED replacement.
