Today JVC has announced the availability of new V2.0 firmware for its DLA-RS4500K 4K Laser Projector. The new firmware adds three new sets of features including Auto Tone Mapping, dedicated color profiles for the Panasonic DP-UB9000 UHD Blu-ray Player, and additional screen adjustment modes.
1. This firmware upgrade, which will be available on June 27, will enable Auto Tone Mapping that optimizes HDR10 content. This function utilizes the mastering information to adjust settings automatically for the best picture quality on a wide variety of content. it also allows for manual adjustment, and it can select a fixed value in situations where mastering information is not present in the content.
2. Two new, dedicated color profiles are for use with Panasonic's DP-UB9000 UHD Blu-ray Player. these profiles are meant to be used with the Panasonic players HDR Optimizer function that uses content metadata to tone map HDR content in a manner that matches the projector's capabilities. The premise is that this provides the best possible HDR image.
3. This firmware update expands the number of screen material and characteristic presets from 135 to 165.
