Out of all the music servers on the Heos app, Which few sound the best ? HD upsampled music won't always sound much better but regular Pandora is mp3, most listening is classic rock for us

Awesome! This is exactly what I want to set up from my PC to my new Marantz - if I have any troubles setting it up - I’ll report back here.

Does anyone know if they have the family plan for the HD?

I know it sounds great and looks great.....but can we communicate with it? If not it is useless:)

Yes they do. $19.99 I believe is what I saw for the price.

I tried this on my Bluesound Node 2. Does not work so good. Also Qobuz's High rez I think sounds better. Amazon's sound and functionality is on the thin side. Maybe they want to be the McDonalds of high rez? Still glad they are doing this though.

Same here. Node 1 only getting 44.1 for Ultra vs Tidal getting 88.2 on same song.

Well, as someone said on another forum - "I have a love/hate relationship w/ Amazon. They are openly waging a retail war to have a foothold in every household one way or another - and they have no qualms with plowing over competitors regardless of impact. So let's not downplay this cause it's a big f-ing deal. "

In the future, when there are no other options and you have to buy or work for them and then they can dictate the retail market without any brakes.....

So I just signed up today and only played a few older tracks and they were all at 44.1, however will soon look for higher res songs next. I had Qobuz before and I think at this 44.1 res they sound the same, but still deciding. So far I like it and its much cheaper than the Qobuz at $25 a month for a single plan. SQ there was great, however costly.

Rebooted the Node and working now. (Computer 101)
Some Jazz tracks must be at 192 because they wouldn’t play through optical. Switched to Analog and they play fine using the Node DAC

Does anyone know of a device that can conveniently access Amazon music UHD with remote control and output to external DAC?
I have a Chord Hugo DAC and it accepts USB, Coax and optical.
I want to sit in living room and navigate Amazon music UHD with remote control viewing via projector and output upto 24/192 to DAC connected to amplifier.
I see Amazon have a new device due for release the ‘Fire tv cube”, which has a usb but I can’t find clarification as to whether it will output 24/192 via usb.

The current Fire TV Stick 4K tops out at 16/48 when playing Amazon Music UHD files which I find somewhat disappointing since Amazon Music UHD has tunes up to at 24/192. I'd settle for 24/96 though.

Short of setting up a Win10 PC with an HDMI, optical or co-ax, or DAC interface to an AVR, are there streaming devices that could support Amazon Music up to 24/96?

Denon AVR-X6200W, Outlaw Audio 7125 Amp, Oppo UDP-203, Oppo BDP-103, Amazon FTV Stick 4K, Tivo Roamio Pro, Pioneer Elite Andrew Jones Dolby Atmos Enabled EFS-73 Fronts/EBS-73 Surrounds, Chane A2.4 Center, SVS SB-2000 Sub, Panasonic Plasma TH-58PX600

Bluesound Node but no USB out.

I have the Pro-Ject S2 Stream Box Ultra with USB to Oppo 205 DAC I’m planning to stream Tidal MQA.

No literature on whether it will do Amazon Streaming but I’m hoping it will.

The Bluesound Node 2i can support 24/192 and offers several options for interfacing to an AVR (Analog RCA Stereo, Coaxial RCA, and TOSLINK digital optical). However, I'm not willing to pay $549.

I'm hoping Amazon announces a Fire TV device next week that can handle Amazon Music HD up to 24/96. If there is no reasonably priced device that supports Amazon Music HD up to 24/96 before the end of my Amazon Music HD promo, I'm going to cancel it.

There are Play-Fi devices, but not sure if it specifically supports Amazon HD.

I signed up for free trial, but there is no indication that it's streaming in HD..so can't say for sure.

I am currently using a Mac Mini into Hugo but that’s not particularly convenient.
I have been using Tidal MQA with good results since the beginning but desktop software decode only unwraps to 24/96 so very interested in Amazon Music UHD upto 24/192
Signed up and had a quick listen with a few tracks and generally sounds good but mixed results and I am confused/troubled that some albums are labelled as UHD but when you select them only 1 track is UHD and the others are HD 16/48 which makes me suspect they have up-scaled a single track of 16/48 to 24/96 just so they can label as UHD?

After a bit of consideration I decided not to even do the free trail.

I enjoy High Res music but I own the High Res music I want and don't need an additional subscription to anything for it. Moreover, if anything new I was interested in was released in High Res Audio I would try to purchase it.

Most of my HRA is Pink Floyd recordings I get from Blu Ray releases.

Having wrestled a bit with HRA I think it's great it becoming more accessible though I don't appreciate upsampled content being passed as HRA.

It's very interesting to follow along as people try to get it working. I can say for my part that I believe sampling rates above 48kHz are un-needed and not useful. I compared 48kHz to 96kHz and they sounded identical. If anyone thinks their hearing extends to 192kHz then I'm happy for them.

It is not that you are hearing frequencies in that range but rather you benefit from more accurate transients.

I've never met a transient that I wanted to know better.

But, it's great is something plays back at the native rate so I'm not against good stuff.

One thing is for sure is real HRA is often specially remastered so just getting to listen to the new master is also a good thing even if it's at lower quality.

For now Apple Music has been the best "fit" for my family.

I own several high res albums that I enjoy. Many are available in 5.1 which isn't something that would be offered through this service. There has been suggestion that much of the high res from Amazon's new service is upsampled content. It could be interesting to see what the actual deal is so I'm glad the trial period is 90 days.
5.1 music on Apple Music? I had no idea. Would you mind sharing a couple examples? I'd love to try this out.

Thanks!

Sorry about the confusion in my post. I subscribe to Apple Music for my self and the family but I don't own anything from Apple Music and there is no High Res Audio on Apple Music.

I own high res music in the form of many albums that have been released via Blu Ray.

I do listen to my 5.1 24/96 files from the ATV4K (they are resampled to 5.1 24/48) using Plex but that's another topic I think ... If interested there's a post about it in the surround sound forum.

Why is amazon’s bitrate for cd quality 850kbps when a cd is 1411kbps and their hi res bitrate 3730kbps when hi res is 9216kbps?
