Thanks, I had tried that and the difference wasn’t significant.

On another note I’ll be in your neck of the woods this week visiting my Father In Roswell.

Yeah, by now, you've got your set up how you like it. The only thing I could think of that would be an absolute improvement, is to do some room treatments. Maybe a couple of foam additions to the side and behind your mains and rears.

If you've not tried this before, prepare to be amazed. The first time I did with my current set up, my daughter, who was actually 7 at the time, told me it sounded like she had headphones on.

Set up:
Marantz AV8802A w/Pangea Premium XLR's-Source: Oppo 103-CD Player: Emotiva ERC 3 w/Pangea Premium XLR's
Display: Samsung QLED 65F-Amplification: Emotiva XPA-DR3, XPA-2 x 2
Mains: PolkAudio LSiM707, C 706, SS 702, RS RTiA9

JT, what's up amigo?? Did you have a great 4th??

Dude, I finally jumped ship from the Onkyo/Integra camp. I snagged a Marantz AV8802A. This thing is pretty cool. I'm liking it a lot so far.

Of course, I liked my Integra AVR over my Integra Pre. But this Marantz Pre is pretty special. Rocking a 7.0 and have the addition of the RTiA3's to hang up as Height speakers to make it 9.0.

I have to try and find room for my boxed up XPA3, won't fit in the rack, to crowded as it is...…

Give me a shout!

You finally came to the dark side! Lol.. you’re going like the 8802. I was watching Master and Commander on my 7012 with 7.2.4 and the atmos was insane. You need to post some pictures for sure.

LOL, yes I did! When did you switch from your Elite to Marantz?

I'm loving this one! It automatically switches from TV to Bluray and back when I do input to TV or Oppo. The only thing it doesn't do is switch to CD. I have to push the CD button on the remote......the horror

Of course the Bluray and TV are sharing an HDMI while the CD is analogue via XLR.....so I guess I can live with that

Yeah for sure, I'll be putting some of my foam back up soon. I'll take pics then and post!

I went from Pioneer to Onkyo in 2010 to Denonin 2012 to Marantz in 2016 and the latest Marantz in 2018. I love the sound in 7.2.4 Atmos! I was watching 13 Hours the secret solders I UHD and the Sound was reference for sure.

Right on! I'm digging the Marantz, just did a recalibration, got some LSiM702 surrounds VERY cheap. Out of a 7.0 set up, only the mains are RTiA, the incredible A9's

I'm curious, which Onkyo did you have?

Sorry Geoff, I didn't get the notification that you replied to my message. It's hit or miss on this forum lately. The Onkyo that I had were the 606, 607 and the 707. All had Audyssey and sounded great. I just didn't seem to get great volume out of it. Then I moved to the Denon 4810 and then Denon 4000 and was happy with the sound. I'm using the 4000 in my living room now. I picked up a Marantz 7008 and the sound was significantly better to my ears and last year I picked up a Marantz 7012 with Atmos. That's sound great with Atmos movies.

Hope you are doing well. How is your daughter doing now that school is back in session.

Thanks for asking, she's in middle school now.....uggg but you know, life goes on weather we want it to or not

Gracie is doing quite well, into horses, which is better than what she originally wanted to do.....race bikes like her dad, pretty glad she didn't end up going for that!!!

I ended up getting the Polk LSiM707's, they were a steal at 625. each and they sound really good, especially in 2ch mode.

Anyway, still adjusting to life, things aren't all bad but getting by day by day. Catch you soon brother.

Ha, she's a natural with the horses and has been taking lessons for about 4 three years now. She even shows miniature horses at the Kitsap county fair. She has no fear, I'm afraid that "no fear" like her father would get her into big trouble on the track.

Sporting the Atmos, very nice. I don't see atmos in my future, but never say never. Once I have the space, I have the speakers to set up a 11.2, and by then, an 11.3.

Plus, I have enough speakers to make up two 7.x set ups. Two pre/pros, two AVRs but only currently 10 channels of external amplification.

Once I'm able to get into my own house, I'll make the 11.3 set up and a dedicated 2ch room. Then possibly a 2ch set up for the back patio

That day will come

Well I have made a small change to the set up. I moved my Klipsch RB81ii to the back surrounds and replaced the Front left and right with a pair of used Klipsch KLF10s. I have also ordered replacement tweeters from Bob Crites and should have them on Monday! Let the fun begin.

I'm very surprised how good the KLF's sound. There is a big difference since my old fronts were the RB81II with a single 8" woofer compared to the dual 10" woofers the KLF's. I really would love to have the RF7II or RF7III or any of the RF7's lol. This was a cheap way to get towers with similar driver setup. They aren't quite the RF7 but they are dam good. I moved my RB81II's to the back surrounds and the theater room has really come alive.
