WOW!

Can't wait to hear your set up in a few weeks. Hope you won't be too disappointed with my paltry speakers, driven by a receiver!

Law of diminishing returns my friend. My speakers are all high sensitivity so buying all these amps is just eye candy...probably don't need them at all I can't wait to see and hear your room in a couple of weeks. The pictures look awesome!!!

Come on the old man cave (cubby hole) was so much better

Nice job, if I only had the space as your old space is similar to my current space

Now our kitchen is similar to you're new one so I most likely will never see a new proper man cave

BTW, I see the rear speakers are in wall and pointing towards the front with the middle speakers pointing towards the other wall with the seats further back etc.

How does the surround speakers sound with material?

Looks cleaner but would think it would not be ideal? I am no expert so just asking?

I originally had the fours surrounds just pointing straight into the room and pointing them more towards the listening position was a nice tweak in the right direction that helped the surround experience. That being said, I am in the middle of a project. The first step was the new amps and the next step is replacing all my surround speakers and adding two more Atmos speakers. Everything has been purchased (JBL pro SCS 8 like my existing front Atmos speakers). So within a week or so my back end will look totally different. The side surrounds will still be in the same location but the rear surrounds will go behind the seats and the rear Atmos will go in the back right/left corners on the ceiling.

So stay tuned for more pictures in the next couple of weeks

Thanks man. Yeah, I am really digging have 8 matching surround/Atmos speakers. The Dolby Atmos demo disc it big time ear candy and I have listened to it way too many times in the last few days. Even the Atmos DSU upmixer and DTS:X upmixer do a great job on discs that aren't coded for the height channels.

This is one of my favorite rooms on AVS. Really like the upgrades.

How do you like the new 65ES as compared to what you had before. Think you had the 55ES, right? I have the 55ES now and really like it, just curious what benefits the 65 has that made you upgrade.

Hers will probably last longer in the upgrade cycle. Which frees up more fundage for you when you need it. Both of your caves are very nice.

Mr. Frohlich: hey, Chris here. Thanks for hosting the CTG yesterday. Had a blast. I love the look of the exposed JBL speakers----it gives the room a cool vibe of a hard core HT. The pics on here don't do it justice, but I really like the combination of the big speakers behind the screen in addition to the satellites along the perimeter.

I'll have to have the crew for an OSU game in the fall. We can jam out some HT clips during halftime.

Thank you for the kind words. I am coming off a Sony HW50 previously. The biggest difference I can see with the new HW 65 are the contrast improvement, little bit more lumens and generally deeper blacks. I had to stick with Sony because I game quite a bit and they have the lowest lag. Wasn't quite ready to commit to a 4K projector because they still seem to be in transition. I need something that costs less than a car but also has a true 4k panel, low lag, HDR, Wide Color Gamut,etc... So still probably 1 to 2 years away from having a product in a somewhat reasonable price range that meets my needs.

Wonder if you are looking at a previous post before I got dual S2 subs. There is no more empty space...filled up just about every square in of my front wall

Frohlich, are those ceiling speakers in FH/RH, TF/TR, or FH/TR positions? Pics can be deceiving and I can't really tell. Seems they are FH/TR.

I have them assigned as TF/TR on my pre/pro. I haven't tried any other configuration yet since I just set them up. I will probably try them as FH/RH at some point but I am not sure how Atmos treats FH/RH to be honest. I can say I like how they sound right now so not sure I want to mess with the formula too much

Thanks a lot Martin for the 2nd stop in our little GTG yesterday. I really enjoyed hearing some large/ high quality speakers, and particularly loved the Atmos Demo disc. It does make me regret not doing that... maybe at some point, I'll have to make a little change to my set up.

Your house reminds me of a Property Brothers house, the kitchen looks a lot like many of theirs, it was quite nice.

Yeah, as they say, don't mess with success .

Are the front and rear ceilings equidistant to the MLP? Looks in the pic that the fronts are farther away than the rears. If so, was there a reason you didn't go for the recommended TF/TR locations?

Correct, the fronts are by the screen and the rears are closer to the MLP. This is a function of having my man cave in the basement and running new wires is a pain since all the other wires were run in wall when the basement was being finished. So moving the TF Atmos speakers more in line with my side surrounds would probably involve tearing into my ceiling to run speaker wire. This is the lazy mans compromise because I could just run the speaker wire up behind my screen and just pop them out by the TF Atmos speakers

So I did go into my 8802A and switch my four height speakers from TF/TR to FH/RH. I did this mainly because that is the new recommended "unified" speaker layout that plays nice with Atmos, DTS:X and Auro. It is also aligns my physical layout in my room with how the Marantz shows FH/RH in their visual. Changing the configuration requires to run Audyssey again.

The first run was an "ok" result but from past experience I have found that for whatever reason (maybe its all in my head) not every Audyssey session provides equal results. Then I ran it a second time and had a very nice result so now I will leave it alone for awhile...thats my story and I am sticking with it.

I wil say my Atmos demo disc sounded better then ever after the reconfiguration in 8802. I will also confirm that DTS:X neural X is more pronounced that DSU for Atmos. It is more enveloping. I am not saying it is better (though I do prefer it myself) but it puts more information into the height speakers and I very much like the results.
