My modest home theater!!

I first got into this hobby 15 years ago. Over the years I have learned a ton and read a lot on these forums. This is my most recent theater. I built the screen myself (128 inch 2:40.1) and used Sintra and had Mississippi Man from the DIY forums paint it.

I have used Pioneer Elite for years and always had great luck out of their products. The SCLX801 and UDPLX500 are doing a great job matched with my JVC DLA RS620.

I recently upgraded speakers and went with B&W CM9S2 mains, a 2S2 center, and DS6 S3 surrounds.

My next upgrade will be subs. Im currently using BIC F12s but will be upgrading those once I make a decision on what I want. The BICs do a really good job for the money but im sure an upgrade will be nice!!!

Im also running an Outlaw5000 amp.

I built this room as an addition on my house. It was originally set up for a pool table (before I got into home theater) and thats why there were so many windows. I think it turned out good the way I blacked out the windows and hung acoustic panels I built as well.

Its a work in progress (aren't they all!) but im happy with the way it is set up for now!!

@maybelooking1 , great looking room!! The BIC's are okay, but if you could get a cupla 18's in there, it would be insane. The F12 is decent, as I have owned one at one time, but now have some 15's and 18's and it is so different.

Great equipment and a nice sized room. That JVC projector must be begging you to darken the walls, but I'm sure it will understand if you watch nothing but sports and sitcoms.

If your room gets used like mine, one of those 6 sofa-seats is going to be a wreck in no time, while the other 5 will be pristine.

Enjoy!

Have to agree with @DavidK442 , I have a JVC RS420, and the best thing I did for movie watching was put black velvet on the walls. Game Changer!!

Ive been planning on doing that at least to the wall the screen is on. But if you guys say it makes that much difference I may just go ahead and do the entire room.

Im in love with this projector. It absolutely puts to shame everything I have had prior. I thought My panny AE8000 looked good!!!! But wow this JVC is amazing.

Ive been told there are subs that will just kill the BICs......namely Rythmik.....but I just cant swing them right now. Maybe in the future!!!

The BICs do a good job though. Im very please with them for the money!!!

I am sure for now the subs will be fine @maybelooking1 ! The first thing I did with the black velvet for the ceiling was install the first 5-6 feet. Watched a couple of flicks, and was hooked. I did another 10 feet from there. My whole room is not done yet, but just about halfway, to the projector. Doing the wall behind the projector almost has the image float. I also covered my L/C/R speakers in black velvet as well.

I can second the 620.... throws a beautiful picture..

Also, black out the entire room and the image quality will go WaY up.

Nice room bud.

I just painted the screen wall today with flat black. The difference is stunning!

Hard to believe it made that much of an improvement.

So after painting the wall black, I decided I wanted to go back and build fabric panels for that entire wall. This is the end result. Im pleased with how it turned out.

Next I am going to paint the ceiling.

@maybelooking1, I bet that picture from that 620 is amazing in your good looking room. Well done on darkening. Maybe you could post a picture of an image in the dark while projecting?
