Flavacol sodium content

I just bought a container of Flavacol and was comparing the sodium content with the prepackaged Great Northern 4oz packages. The Great Northern package shows 270mg of sodium, or 11% of the daily value. The Flavacol, however, shows 2740mg of sodium, or 114%of the daily value! I've only made one 4oz batch of popcorn so far and am still experimenting with the amount of Flavacol to use, but man, I don't want to shut my kidneys down due to sodium overload. Hard to believe the amount of sodium in this stuff.

Nutritional Information: Primarily containing Alberger-brand salt, Flavacol does not contribute significantly to your daily nutritional intake. With zero calories, zero grams of fat, zero grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of protein and no vitamin or mineral content, the only significant impact that Flavacol may have on your diet is due to its very high sodium content. Based on a 2,000 calorie per day diet, one teaspoon of Flavacol contains 116 percent, or 2,780mg, of your recommended daily intake of sodium.

I use Flavacol with my 8oz popcorn batches from GN. I skip the flavoring included and use the Flavacol. I think I use about a half a teaspoon in a whole 8oz batch. Doesn't need much.

Used properly it will not be any saltier than popcorn you'd get anywhere else.
