Also, does octane sell directly or only through dealers?

I have the Dream HR, and like the Flex HR, the USB ports are on the outside of the arm storage, not inside the arm storage.

Placed my order with Nick today for a row of 3 x Octane Flash HR. They are in stock so they should be delivered in 10 to 14 days. I went with the Flash instead of the Flex because after trying the Flex at my local dealer, I found it a bit stiff. Nick recommended the Flash because according to him it's more soft an puffy. TheTheaterStore gave me a very good deal and they included a 5 years warranty extension.

Octane owners, how would you rate comfort level of your specific model? From 0 to 10 ranging from firm to pillowy. Considering most people ore ordering them blind, it will be of great help comparing different models.

Got my Flash HR seats today. They are definitely more comfortable than the Flex HR I tried at my local dealer. I would say they are as comfortable as the Nitro seats. Unfortunately, one of my seats came with a bent frame (left side of the love seat) and the individual recliner worked for 5 mins and now it's not working anymore. After some trouble shooting, found that the panel is defective. Talked to Sally at TheaterSeatStore and they are sending me a complete left side chair replacement and a panel for the individual recliner. They are great seats but lot of quality control issues with this company. I would recommend everybody getting the 5 years extended warranty as it cost only $199. BTW, they said that the bad seat I can either destroy it or donate it.

Well, comfort is entirely subjective of course. Some folks like firm, others prefer pillowy. I lean toward firm, as do my Dream HRs. If 0 is firm and 10 is pillowy, I'd call them a 3.

I would have to say my Dream HR are a 2-3. I have had less than 5 hours in them do far as my theater is not done.

As for quality control I don’t think that’s the issue. It has to do with the shipment with the chairs. I know in my case it was the shipping. The product by the shipper was treated very bad. The second set was good but still some very minor issues.

As for your control panel, did you put the chair on it’s side and open the Velcro bottom were the chairs wiring and brain is? Also check all the connections as I had one plug that was tied too tight to the frame and the plug was being pulled apart.

BTW, there are spare 12 volt led wire on single arm sided chairs and extra usb connector on all chairs in the Velcro compartment.

Well, now I'm pretty sure is all about QC on these seats. Got the replacement switch and the chair is working quasi normally. The only problem is that the lights do not turn OFF completely, instead they dim just a bit. At this point I have got 3 out of 4 defective control units. I called TheaterSeatStore and the are looking very seriously into this as this is unacceptable. It could be a bad batch of switches, though. I'm getting tomorrow the replacement seat for the one that came with the bent frame. Good thing is that their customer service is great!!

Wow, is it the button plate with usb or the actual control box that they keep replacing?

Not sure how other models work, but on the Flash HR the control box and the button plate with USB are in the same box. The good thing is that they are taking care very well and pronto. I got the three chairs past Thursday, one was in perfect condition, one with bent frame and defective light button and the third one with DOA switch. The replacement chair is arriving tomorrow so I hope it's in good condition and the replacement switch I got today the light button is not turning the lights off, instead dimming them. They told me to keep the chair with the bent frame and I will try to fix it then put it on storage or donate it. I really like the chairs as they are very comfortable and the look is very clean and classic. If they fix the issue with the control units, then I think I can recommend these seats.

BTW, it's not easy to take the control units out of the chair. They are too tight and that may be what is causing all the issues with the control units. I was very careful when taking the control unit out but still you can see how the plastic case got broken in several places.

Those are different than the Dream HR. Our control panel is separate than the brain. They also have octane stamped in the control panel.

Are you sure there is a separate control unit (brain) somewhere else? I'm 99% sure they share the same part but with different plates. The picture I posted before was without the plate on. Here is one with the plate on. Also pictures of the internals of the chair. I don't see anywhere any kind of control unit other than the one attached to the buttons panel.

I just got a set of 3 Curve HR’s and I would put them at a 7, maybe an 8 on the plush/pillowy side. Very comfortable.

Yes, 100% positive. When I get home I will take a picture for you. This one picture I have when the first set got damaged. The control panel was broken out when it arrived and the tabs were broke. You can see the white in the picture as it’s just a wire in the back of the button. They go from there to the brain that’s mounted with one screw just inside the Velcro cover. I will snap some pictures.

Just looked at your photo again and the octane is a silver badge vs it stamped like mine. So it looks like different parts.

Got today the replacement Flash HR seat and this one is in good condition. However, the button that controls the lights didn't respond one time which means that it could fail in a few days or after some use. Already send Octane/TheaterSeatStore an email with my findings. I mentioned to them on the email that when replacing yesterday the bad switch, it took me like 20 mins to get it out as it was too tight. I had to use a bar to pull it out of the chair. After checking it I found that the box with the controls was bent as well so the issue is that they are doing the cut out for the panel too small so they needed to use at the factory a rubber hammer to get it in. That is what is causing all the fail switches in this particular model. After sending the email, I called Sally and she said that I was on point as she got an email from the factory in China this morning that the issue in the control boxes was caused by the cut out been too small and it's damaging a pin or some sort of resistor in the control unit during the process of putting the switch in the chair. They are now making the opening in the Flash HR a big bigger so the switch fits more loosely. She also asked for a new batch of switches and she is sending me a pair as soon she gets the new batch of switches in. Glad I was able to help improve this great chair!! Not to mention their great customer service.

How do you like your Flex seats after you had it for a while? I don't want too plush, but not too firm either.
Love your room! How big is it, and what's the distance between seats and the screen?

I debated between two and a single row and actually settled on a single row of seats along the long wall.

Hi Guys,

It looks like Wayfair is selling these exact same chairs under the Orren Ellis name. Even the spec sheet they have online is the Octane Dream HR spec sheet with the Octane blacked out. Search the Orren Ellis Home Theater sofa on their site and see what I mean. If you look at the control unit it says Octane on it. I ordered the seats and should be getting them in a couple of weeks. I'll update when I receive.

I see they have the Flex line as well for about 330 less per seat. They're listed as Diamond Stitch Home Theater Row Seating

Enrico, I remember that you mentioned somewhere that you disabled the bottom LED strip lights on your chairs. I am thinking of doing the same thing. How did you disbale them exactly without turning of the cup holder lights? Did you just disconnect the power cable where it meets the led strip? Or somewhere at the controller?

Yep, you can do that right there, simple.

Here are the 4 Octane Flash HR seats that I got last week. I like them a lot. They have the right amount of firmness at least brand new. I haven't encountered any problems yet.

Thanks so much for that heads up. I just ordered a straight 2 seat (Octane) Flex HR in white leather for $1640. You saved me $657!! They also have the tempered glass table accessory for $10 less than Theater Seat Store.

There's room for ALL of God's creatures...right next to the mashed potatoes!

That's great man. Glad to hear it. Waiting for my Orren Ellis/Octane Dream HR seats to arrive. I saved about $500 going through Wayfair. Hopefully I'll have my seats by Wednesday of next week. Already got the LED Lamp accessory. Debating getting the tray tables.. (Who am I kidding? I'm so getting the tray tables. LOL)

Ok it's confirmed. These are Octane Dream HR. Such nice seats. I'm thrilled. The leather is awesome. So soft and nice. Super comfortable. And the adjustable headrest is amazing. Wayfair is the way to go everybody!!!!

Alan
