Berkline Theater Seating Parts

Hello,
I have Berkline theater seating. One of my chairs is having a issue opening the footrest. Any pressure on the footrest and the opening stops. Take any pressure off and it will open fine. Closing works fine, so I am assuming a issue with the electric motor. Is there anywhere to purchase just the electric motor and not the complete motor and slide.

Thank you,
JR

I had a problem with one of my berkline power recliners and had a free estimate done by a repairman. the estimate to fix was more than what I paid for brand new seat...I therefore just bought new seats. now if gonna diy...maybe if your time free its ok...but I suspect berkline just disposable furniture

Hello,
Thank you BIGmouthinDC. Sorry, my error, as I did find the complete set like you mentioned. I was just looking for the replacement motor as it is the only part that went bad. I appreciated the link.

Contact the vendors. While they may only sell the assembly they may have one sitting around with a damaged rail or can sell you just the motor. A lot of small companies don't list everything on their sites that they can sell.

Did you ever find a replacement motor assembly? BigMouthinDC link is a store that is no longer in business. Most of the remaining link are not the Ciar part. Is there a direct replacment?

Hello,
No, but I did luck out for a short time and was able to make it work again, but it has failed once more. I am actually ordering (https://www.amazon.com/IRONWALLS-Ele.../dp/B07KR5B4GQ), and going to modify it to fit.

I was able to get the new actuator to work 100%.

The replacement actuator would not close the footrest 100%. After thinking about it for a while I add a second set of holes between the original hole and the bracket that attaches to the nylon slide. The new holes are mabey a half an inch from the original holes. This pulls the footrest in just enough to close completely and the motor stops without stressing the gears.

I just had a motor fail on one of my Berkline chairs. Unfortunately it failed with the footrest up and leaned back. I need to get under it and get some numbers off of the motor. I thought that it would be easy find a replacement motor with as many of these chairs that Berlin has sold.

I found a replacement motor on ebay a couple of years ago. I took a chance on a used one, but it's worked so far. I was surprised how hard it was to find a replacement. But these chairs are pretty old now and probably need to be replaced. When I do, I should probably pull the recline motor assemblies and sell them on ebay.

Also, the problem with my motor was weird. It worked perfectly to recline the chair, but wouldn't put it down at all. So it's like the motor would work in one direction but not the other. I kept it thinking I might be able to fix that, but I've never messed with it.

I finally was able to swap the parts from another one of my chairs and it worked to get the chair back to an upright. The part was the large cube under it that powers everything. The part number on it says "CIAR SpA 61100 Pesaro", does anyone know where I can get something to replace this?

I am afraid you are out of luck. These parts have been discontinued a while back, and the only way to fix this is to replace all 3 components - power supply, motor and a switch. With the motor you would have to be very careful - need to measure the length, because the new ones can be slightly longer or shorter, and that may cause issues installing it. The power supplies are different now, and you will also need to figure out how to attach it to a frame.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping that someone had found a solution to when these failed. It's a shame to because the chair looks new.

What is the minor tweaking that needs to be done? Any pics that you can share to help me understand the repair?

We are not at the house where the Theater is, so I can not take a picture for you. The mod is not that hard i just drilled an additional mounting hole in the arm. I can take a picture in a month or so when the Covid-19 shut down is over and we return to California.

That would be great. I'm not in a huge rush since it's a chair on the end that my wife and I don't normally use. Thanks for your help.
