Cool Get Your Geek On: Post Pics Of A Few Cool Items On Display In Your Home Theater

When it comes to adding a little cool-factor flare to your home theater, there's a lot more out there just waiting to be shown off than simply a few (albeit awesome) movie posters. Let's start sharing a few pics of our favorite movie-related items and begin inspiring some ideas!

Here's a few of my latest items, courtesy of a couple of Christmas gift cards

1. Diamond Select Toys Marvel Gallery -- 9" Ant-Man PVC Diorama Figure.

2. Light-Up Starship Enterprise by Chip Carter (proof that something cool doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg).

3. Diamond Select Toys Marvel Gallery -- 9" The Wasp PVC Diorama Figure.

Since my bonus room come theater has sloping ceilings and a 4' knee wall, there's no way to put any shelves in there. So we decided to turn our hallway into something of a theater entrance. I've got full size posters on the right wall, currently Willy Wonka, Polar Express (first edition actual movie poster), and Harry Potter(not pictured). On the right are several small poster prints on a couple themes: Oscar winners from several decades, and some of our favorite films, plus an autographed Chaplin poster. At then end I've got some shelves with the knick knacks including some pop vinyls, Vadar there, and a few Harry Potter items (wand, Diagon Alley sign, and old keys).

And as usual, the forum has a penchant for rotating portrait cell phone picks. I'll have to see if I can fix that.

Looks great, Moebius! I did the same thing on the walk to mine as well. Even added a few touches to the bathroom, and what better theme for a bathroom is there than Game of Thrones?

Ooh! I gotta keep an eye on this thread!

I am moving at the end of the month and I have resolved to beautify (aka geek out!) my Living room Media. I plan to install LED strip lighting behind the TV for bias-lighting but also within the display stand itself and possibly behind the speakers for aesthetic purposes.

Last year, I requisitioned an old dish cabinet my wife bought at a garage sale, but never did anything with to use as a display case for our geeky action figures and statues. Surprisingly, my wife has more figures than I do having a pretty extensive collection of Wonder Woman statues and figures. I installed dimmable LED strip lighting inside the cabinet and it worked perfectly. It looks pretty sweet with the lights on. So that is going into the Media room as well. Hopefully I will be able to add a few figures of my own in there to even things out.

My wife also works in custom framing and collects a lot of geek oriented and comic book artwork. She has a ton of framed posters and art that we can hang in the room.

And finally, I have a lightsaber that I bought at a comic convention a couple of years back. I hope to hang that in the room as well. Put it on display. Its been sitting in the closet since I got it and I think once I get the LED lighting set up, the lit up lightsaber will go with the décor quite nicely.

So as soon as I get it all set up, I will post pics, but it will be a few weeks before that happens. Hopefully this thread doesn't get buried to deeply by that time.

2. Phantom of the Paradise on display above stairs.
3. Two 50" TVs running Great Dane MoviePoster software on Chromebit.

Great thread. I'll try to dig up the previous thread on similar topic....props.

Shawn:

Your marquee is what HT fantasies are made of.....

I'll also post some pics of my Star Wars themed entrance, which includes framed insert posters, autographs and life size Darth Maul. I need the post some for posterity since I'll be selling off of this stuff and going to a Springsteen themed entrance. I have enough autographed original photographer's images (think BTR and Darkness out-take images etc plus Danny Clinch etc), posters and other items to fill out the entrance nicely.

Ticket booth, marquees, impressive. Where'd you get the neon-lit Home Theater sign above the MoviePoster screen? It adds a nice touch.

Working tap with homemade cider (currently honey cinnamon). Mini-fridge and keg are in a utility room behind the wall. Best part is when a friend came over and grabbed the handle not knowing it was real...made a mess but worth the shocked look!

A few more to add. By pure luck I came across Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker Black Series Centerpiece displays on an insane sale a number of months ago. Best detail I've seen yet for a collectible this inexpensive. At that time I was also keeping an eye out for the long-discontinued and highly collectible McFarlane POP Culture 3D Jaws poster to even out my collection of three others I had, but couldn't find one under $1000 for quite awhile (sometimes sellers on eBay ask ridiculous prices for things). Finally came across one for sale with a low starting bid. Gave it a shot ... and won. I'm sure the seller wasn’t pleased, but I certainly was. Later picked up an Alien bust ("Big Chap" by Diamond Select) and a collectible Smeagol statue figurine for a good price on Facebook Marketplace.

Be it known said chopsticks are very hard to eat with compared to traditional... too slick.

I'm DESPERATELY looking for a house, having moved from a 2,500 sq ft place (with decent but not extravagant HT space) last July. Lots of ideas, but I can't really make plans until I have something to work with. Good luck, and have fun!

I know what I like.

Just noticed my original pics didn't include one of my favorite pieces, which is a clock my friend made for us for Christmas.

Very cool. Wherever did you find a Phantom of the Paradise figure?

Just a mannequin with costume and custom-made Phantom helmet.

Picked up a couple more items today from the Facebook Marketplace:

1. The Matrix NEO Collectible Mini-Bust by Gentle Giant

2. Dragon and Dagger plaque for the Game of Thrones themed bathroom

The Neo mini-bust is about 6.5" and is pretty heavy for the size, so definitely not vinyl. Don't know much about it other than it seems to be sans sun glasses but for $10 it felt like a bargain.

Was browsing Facebook Marketplace today and found "Devil of the Seas - Davy Jones" by Disney Traditions Collection (#4056759). Made of stone resin standing just over 8" tall. Nice piece!

Description:

"Jim Shore's first piece from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is a true stand out in both artistry and design. Davey Jones tentacle beard, barnacle encrusted costume and gold paint detail is terrifyingly delightful."

I don't have much in my basement game/room theater but I do have a 1943 DuGrenier lobby vend cigarette machine. It currently dispenses candy cigs and various other boxes of candy.
