Swivel tray blocking cup holder

So one drawback I have found to the swivel tray is that you can't use it and flip to have the food/item closer to you without it bumping into your drink.

Has anyone found a solution? Relocating the socket is out of the question, but I was thinking about relocating the metal rod to the very outer edge of the tray so that it won't block the cup holder as it swings.

I should be able to "unscrew" the rod but haven't had much success yet even with some pliers, seems to be well set in there.

well, you can use the cup holder on the other chair arm, or put a drink on the table?

It's a loveseat with no middle arm rest and yes I guess I can out it on top but I guess it just made sense to me that it would be designed differently in case someone has something big on the tray but also wants to keep a drink on the side that's more secure.

For the loveseat you may want to consider getting a portable arm that come with the cup holder.

Without making a complicated design that will increase the cost of the chairs, it is very difficult to make a stable tray that will swivel and will not cover the cup holder. There is not much real estate on the arm for that, especially if it has a storage compartment.

You are not alone. Theater seating store owner had the same complaint about cupholder design. My solution is to keep tray swiveled up front.

On a separate but related note, these swivel tables are way too freakin' glossy. Are there different versions made? Or has anyone applied a skin or something to make them less of a fingerprint magnet?

They sell different ones online, some are non slip. Pretty sure I have seen this same one cheaper in overstock or wayfair

Perhaps a vinyl skin?
